BlrwestSiR
Ok, this was sitting under my bench so I figured why not start it. We'll see about the finishing part. It's from C1 Models out of the UK. They make various transkits for car models as well as some full resin ones. The body is 1 piece and is a nice casting. Much of the conversion uses 3D printed parts. There are some PE parts as well. 2
BlrwestSiR
This is a transkit and uses the recent Revell Land Rover 110 wagon as a donor kit. From what I can tell, not much is used from the kit except the chassis and floor pan. Here's the kit chassis. After cleaning up the seam lines, I removed the stock front suspension mounting points I then attached the new upper spring mounts. These are 3D printed and include a shaft which looks to represent the shocks. Installed onto the chassis. The biggest hurdle with this conversion is the lack of an instruction manual. When I contacted C1 Models they never replied to me. However, there is a video on their website which shows you how things go together so that was a big help in solving things. 5
DocRob
That's an interesting conversion, Carl. I will follow your build along. Hopefully the kit parts fit the C1 body. The lack of a manual is somewhat irritating. I'm actually thinking about buying a Citroen SM resin kit from USCP, one of my favorites. It's a full resin kit and I'm not sure, if I'm up to it. It's not my first resin car kit, but looks delicate. Cheers Rob 2

PanzerWomble
Nice project , as a long time LR owner......... for authenticity I suggest you need to drill numerous rust holes in the chassis out riggers, rear cross member and probably the corners under the windows on the front bulkhead. Then dent most of the panels and make sure the doors aren't a great fit . Cover it all in mud , and don't forget the oil leaks from the diffs, gearbox, transfer box ..and maybe the engine for good measure. ..Love them ...hate them ..it's complicated. We run a pair of Freelanders now as daily drivers , but every few months .....the voices in my head whisper.... Back when I used to do more 1:1 scale..... 2

Thankfully I won't be going for 100% accuracy. Wouldn't have much of a kit left.
BlrwestSiR
The complete lack of instructions has made things fun. Mostly figuring out what kit parts to use and where to make mods to them. I decided to check the fit of the floorpan. First thing I noticed was the huge Revell logo on the bottom. That had to go. I used my Tamiya razor saw and it was a quick swipe to remove it. Test fitting it with the chassis, I noticed some interference at the last cross member. So this has been sanded down and notched to fit. The inner fenders needed a couple holes cut in it to make space for the new strut towers. May cap them with a piece of sheet styrene so I don't have the huge hole in the fender
Peterpools
Carl Nice progress on the LR Defender. Considering it's a resin conversion, fit seems pretty good, especially in your hands.
