JohnB Posted November 1 Posted November 1 This one's been in my stash for a good while so I guess it's time to build it. I have some good after market exhaust hiders and some wide prop blades that are needed for this particular a/c. I'll use some Eaglecal decals for markings. Makes a BIG model! 6
KevinM Posted November 2 Posted November 2 That is one plane I have not built in decades John and have been looking at different manufactures if I had to pick it be Hase or Borders. 1

I'm only familiar with the Hasegawa kits but they are really nice kits. Great detail and fit.
JohnB Posted November 3 Author Posted November 3 Cockpit, sometimes known as "the front office", is coming right along. Hard to tell but I painted each instrument with a dab of clear gloss. Looks like they need some more! 8
BlrwestSiR Posted November 4 Posted November 4 The cockpit looks great John. What clear were you using on the instrument faces? 2

JohnB Posted November 4 Author Posted November 4 I came across these photos of the a/c I'm building. Good references. 4
JohnB Posted November 4 Author Posted November 4 Test fitting the wings. The topsides look okay but what's with the undersides? 4 1
ScottsGT Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Nice! I’ve got one sitting in the stash with a lot of AM I’m wanting to get to. Watching with much interest. A tip I picked up on the gauge faces is to use UV activated glue. Epoxy works too, but sometimes yellows over time. My wife just bought some casting resin to make some Christmas ornaments. I might commandeer a couple ounces for my bench. 😁 5

PanzerWomble Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Looking good john . They are big aircraft , I took this no so good pic at Hendon 10 years ago when they had an obsession with bad lighting and poor access . No wonder we shot them down in drove after they crossed the English Channel in 1940. 4
JohnB Posted November 5 Author Posted November 5 Yes indeed. The RAF fighter pilots had no problem with them. 3
BlrwestSiR Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Nice fix on the wing gap. At least it's on the underside so not as visible. I've used Bondic UV gel for instrument glass. I apply with a toothpick and then a UV flashlight to harden it. There's a Japanese brand Gaianotes that does one too that's even nicer but it can be hard to find. 2
