Winnie Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 Hardest thing I've done, harder even than the miscarriage we had early on in our relationship... 14 years is a long time. The relocation thankfully won't be too bad, we're just going 2 doors down, better newer home, with A/C, bigger kitchen and attached garage. I can still walk to work, and bike to the golf course, and paint my ship hulls in my garage! 1 5
KevinM Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 I have done the dog part not easy at all mine was with us for 18 1/2 years.I cried more over putting her down than burying my FIL and Brother all happened in a 6 month window and the Son left for the military. 3
GusMac Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 Sorry to hear about your dog. It really is the hardest thing to do as they get under your skin and almost become a part of you. As Kevin said I've never cried at a relative's funeral but I blubbed like a baby when we had to put the first of ours down. 2
BlrwestSiR Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 Truly sorry to hear about your dog. I still miss my last dog Zoe. She was 14 1/2 when we had to say goodbye. Never easy and it doesn't get easier. Carl 3
DocRob Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 Sorry to hear about your loss, Winnie. I have been there last year and like Gus and Kevin said, I never felt so miserable with the loss of relatives. Beloved pets are like inner circle of the family. Fortunately a sweet cat, which was around for a log time, but was always chased away by hour dog, took it´s place and adopted us soon after he died and took some of the weight off our shoulders.
