Spitfire Posted December 7 Posted December 7 This should be a most impressive beasty when finished. Cheers Dennis 2
Martinnfb Posted December 8 Author Posted December 8 Thank you guys, today was painting day. Everything black black paintmatters…. 6
Martinnfb Posted December 8 Author Posted December 8 Guns needed to be drill out. Brass ones would be nice. But this will do. 8
PanzerWomble Posted December 8 Posted December 8 Looking good , I take it the placards are Airscale stuff not with the boxing? 2
BlrwestSiR Posted December 8 Posted December 8 Nice detail. I was wondering about the placards as well. They really add an extra level of detail. 3
Martinnfb Posted December 8 Author Posted December 8 Thank you guys. The placards are from the Airfix decal sheet tyt is actually quite comprehensive, minus the selection of markings, which is utterly boring considering the endless options to shine. I tried new ATOM series paint from Ammo and the result is satisfactory. To the point that I’ve purged the rest of my Mig and Arcus paint. 5 1

Tamiya / MRP makes a good undercoat as it is more robust. Oh and also they level very well , brush touch ups over sprayed areas blend pretty good. PS I thought Arsfix putting an RAF colour scheme in there was just kinda silly TBH for a first release , although if you can't do mottling or use an airbrush at all I guess it gives you a way out . 4 1
Martinnfb Posted December 8 Author Posted December 8 I'm not saying that You guys are needy, but let the putty dry for a minute 5

Martinnfb Posted December 9 Author Posted December 9 Well seems like ages filled with putty and mild frustration. I managed to create a semi decent seam line at the front and scribed some seal along the rear. Then placed the hinge decal on top. After priming the top I realized that the hing is sinking in. What are you sinking about hinge? and then I discovered the famous seam line that I failed to sand enough. 5
BlrwestSiR Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Martin, I've got the perfect tool to get rid of that seam. It's a circular sanding pad that goes in a rotary tool. You can get different grit sanding pads for them. They're made by Dspiae and come in two sizes. They're fairly inexpensive too. 4 1
Martinnfb Posted December 10 Author Posted December 10 I am ok with sanding seams, the point is I have to see them first 2

Martinnfb Posted December 10 Author Posted December 10 This model was designed to be build in the open configuration, closed up version was an afterthought. It is lacking detail where is not needed for the open version. Gondolas are back on the table , nothing to see there just lots of hacking and blobs of putty. 6
DocRob Posted December 10 Posted December 10 A lot of extra work needed for such a relatively new kit. But is there something like the perfect kit out there Martin? The worst decision might be to allow only for opened cowl and hatches, weird. Cheers Rob 4

Cheers Rob Mirrors Revell's approach with their 1/32 Fw190 , have to shave a lot off the engine to close up the nose . 2 2
Martinnfb Posted December 10 Author Posted December 10 Well, it is what it is. Still beautiful kit, just takes some tlc. such us gondolas, I took out the protruding ammo feeds that would be entering into the wing. Just don’t feel like hacking the wing. The plastic barrels are nice from the box, actually very nice . This time with hollow ends, but I have brass ones on hand so that will be addressed shortly. I know , the plan was to go OOB, so scratch it and we will call it AOOB, Almost Out Of The Box. 7
