I have started another kit while waiting for the replacement gunsight to show up for the hurri.I have eyeballed this kit over the years but never had the smake rings will they should show up Friday.I am doing this kit paint kinda like when I was a kid I had the ole plastic Badger AB with propel when I was maybe 12/13years old.I would paint the plane then assemble the kit ...why am I doing that now? Will I felt with that camo that wraps under the wing it would be easier and not so fidelity on the masking part and painting the lower wing RLM78 first then the masking work for me.I just had a small seam to contend with on the left wing and it's done. This does mean no touch-ups just less spraying the fit is pretty good. You will see the radiator is painted yellow sand on the sides but blue on the bottom it gets smoke rings also. The only area that receives the RLM78 is the wing/tailplanes so this will give me some nice clean demarcation lines.I have the PCM Mc202 and the smoke rings for that one also PCM while not as tough as the FLY are still a challenge maybe later this year.;)

I have moved quickly with this the L/wing looks better than the right as far as the smoke rings I started with the right as I progressed I got a better feel for things.I still need to gloss the bottom for the lower insignia also need to do the radiator for gloss.I feel I should be done in the next week to ten days.;)

Looking good, which smoke rings are you using and how are they laying down, any silvering?

In the not too distant future I will be painting my PCM C202 and am still undecided as to wether to paint of decal the rings.

Cheers

Thanks for that I will investigate further, my initial plan was to paint the green then apply the smoke ring masks and paint the base colour, then remove the masks, but the Eduard decals may be a better way to go.

I once tried to apply liquid mask from a marker for a similar paintjob, of course an Italian one, but it didn´t work out, the application of the mask was too irregular due to the thick medium. I used a marker then.

I tried different masking fluids:

...and finally used the marker:

I used a blue marker on a 1/48 small Japanese bomber it went in-between the brown/green looked cool in the beginning then it bled some:hsmack:
