Quick shots. The aluminum panels are done (?) and not thrilled with them. To me , they look more grey than aluminum. So let me know what you think. Should I leave them or maybe try silver ? Thanks for looking in.....Harv

Well, I said I'd be doing some work. Finally got the PE on the nose gear door. Now, I like doing PE, but I gotta tell you all, this was one BIG PITA ! Very flimsy and hard to do. I can bend them with thought control ! There that bad. But they are on ( now we'll see if I can keep them on. The main doors should be a bit easier. The PE attaches to the kit parts that are glued to the fuss. Had to remove and sand all on the nose door. Hopefully I can get the mains done tomorrow and start painting them . After that, the props ! Enjoy !........Harv

Coming along swimmingly Harv! Glad to see you still bangin' away on this one.. Gives me faith that I'll eventually finish something one day! This is one of the first kits I bought when I got back into the hobby a couple of years ago. I got the full eduard set for it along with the verlinden cockpit and gun bay set.. had big dreams and aspirations for it. Started working on the flaps and quickly exceeded my abilities so it's been lingering near the bottom of the stash ever since... Every time I see you working on yours it makes me wanna drag it back out and make myself a "Putt Putt Maru". Keep up the good work and inspiration!

Cheers,

Jerry

i would dig it out harv, but i don't want to steal your 'thunder' for having the longest ongoing build on here! :-) seriously, i screwed the pooch on some parts of it so bad i've got about a months worth of "undoing" before i could start back "doing". besides, i just spent about $100 on aftermarket for another f-18... and it's pretty much a blank canvas, so i'm gonna pull that out and give her a go tomorrow. stuck out here at the racetrack all day today so after i recoup from heatstroke tomorrow i'll get some picks and start posting. in the meantime, i've still got a donor trumpy p-38 from a friend for spare parts, so if you need any replacement parts, let me know! 'cept for the canopy.. that's the part i boogered up the worst!!!!!

cheers,

Jerry

OK, this isn't going well. I thought I could knock these out, but proving to be a bear. One of four done, took most of the day again. 11 pieces of PE per door. And why oh why Eduard, do you leave parts out of the plan ? No hinge point for front of door actuator ? Also heads up. The PE parts that are glued to the plastic mounts, they are numbered backwards ! Enjoy.........Harv

Small up date. Well after suffering through the first door, found an easier way to locate the parts position before glueing. Taped the door in position , Then after pre assem the PITA hinges , mark location. Then remove and glue.

** NOTE** If you are building this model or planning to, I suggest this step be done before assem. the gear bays. It will save you lots of  and frustration ! Lots more wiggle room and nothing in your way.

As always, comments welcome(as well as large amounts of praise !) LOL

Thats all for now, carry on........Harv
