seiran01
Hi all, I have both the Hasegawa and Kinetic F-86 kits on the way, can anyone recommend best cockpit sets to use with them? Off the top of my head I know of Black Box/Avionix, AMS, Aires, CMK options in resin plus the usual Eduard suspects. It'll give me something to ponder while I wait for SprueBros to get another AMS restock for Harold's Sabre intake and gun panel fix The Hase kit will be converted to the -H model using the C&H conversion, I don't know if there are any really obvious differences in the cockpit. Thanks for all opinions and insight!

I did all the masters for my F-86 pit sets, William did the F-86 nose and gun panels for the Kinetic kit. Plus the T-33 canopy rails, wing tip tanks, flaps and chaff pods.

You two guys are Sabre gurus Thanks, William is the guru, I just collected thousands of photos and drawings, history, and met a few ground crewmen, pilots and folks who did the restoration of a couple air-frames.
Harold
The Aries set is done by their second tier master makers, compared to most of the others they have done, this one is not up to par. The seat is just a slightly modified kit part, the side consoles are lacking somewhat in detail. The etched parts are OK however.
seiran01
Harold, do you know if the -H cockpit is much different than the F? Thinking I’ll be grabbing your Kinetic cockpit set at the very least.

It is different, most notably the seat, similar to the "D" variant. http://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_fighters/p86_16.html

williamj
We do NEED a whole new F-86...These are some issues on both the Kinetic and Has. kits....biggest on the Has. is the cockpit and canopy are not 32nd scale..too small for the rest of the aircraft...the Kinetic is far too thick in places and the surface detail and panel lines could be a whole lot better(the nose and gun troughs are just bad),plus the tail planes are the wrong sweep and shape and again too thick...There are more than a number of items to correct on both kits ..but you get the idea. and Harold is correct, made new nose and gun panels and sent to him,Harold is a great guy to deal with....scratched a lot of detail in my own cockpits for the Sabre. Would love to see a new kit, would be over the moon.
