ScottsGT Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Been spending some time with this old girl. Today was her 59th birthday. She rolled off the assembly line on Oct 25, 1965. And Oct 25th was also my late mother’s birthday. Had to wipe the tune off the EZ-EFI fuel injection system and start over. Ran very rough until it hit the 200 degree operating temp then smoothed out. Let it sit a couple of days and she fired right up. Just a little cantankerous at first, but I was too at 59. After putting a few more miles on it, I pulled out the IR temp gun and noticed some big temp swings on my exhaust ports. Found some potential vacuum leaks I need to address and try again later. 5
BlrwestSiR Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 She's a beaut Scott. Hard to believe that's a 59 year old car. 3
Martinnfb Posted October 26, 2024 Author Posted October 26, 2024 Very nice. I was thinking about the EZ-EFI retrofit for my fox, but that will be a task for the new owner once its gone. 1

Lots of improvements in aftermarket FI since then. And better options too! I thought about yanking all of this out and starting over until it seemed to improve by starting over. 2
PanzerWomble Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 He he , I have 'Jetronic' Fuel Injection 😀....no electronics in there at all it's all manual and into the manifolds not the cylinder . Had a trip to the Forest of Dean this week , nice Autumn colours . Now 2000 miles up from when I bought it , thats more than it had done since 2013.. 7
Uraynah Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 That sounds like a nightmare with the insurance, especially having to deal with all those delays. I’ve been through similar frustrations myself—sometimes it feels like you’re going in circles. Glad to hear your Mustang’s in good hands now, though! The new hood sounds like a great upgrade. It’s always nice to see a project like that come together. Hopefully, the rest of the repairs go smoothly and you’ll be back on the road soon!
ScottsGT Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Check this out. It’s the Corvette my son’s been building for the past year and a half. He has a couple of wiring bugs to work out on a couple of gauges and it’s a done deal ready for auction. https://www.mecum.com/lots/1144916/1967-chevrolet-corvette-custom-coupe/?aa_id=681649-0 Mecums photographer came out to take the photos and his prediction is it will bring around a half million. 3
ScottsGT Posted Friday at 11:44 PM Posted Friday at 11:44 PM Rolled across the stage today at Mecum. High bid was $275,000. Everyone discussed holding the reserve above $300,000. The owner got cold feet and lifted the reserve when it hit top dollar. My son and his crew are a bit upset because of how the boss lied. They already had it scheduled to take to Atlanta to a GM Muscle car dealer that said he could get them $325k all day for it. I told him at the end of the day, your boss is a car dealer. Keep that in mind. They pulled about $75k profit, but left money on the table. My brother was the same way when he was selling cars. EDIT: I forgot about the buyers fees. Actual sale price was $302K. 2
Martinnfb Posted Saturday at 12:54 AM Author Posted Saturday at 12:54 AM I guess that’s the nature of the beast. It will all work out at the end. I installed a set of tow hooks on my truck, which proved to be a little challenge, due the need for relocation brackets that I had to fabricate with basic tolls , no milling machine or even a decent bench vise. But it’s done and it looks stock on a plastic bumper. 2
Martinnfb Posted Saturday at 01:22 AM Author Posted Saturday at 01:22 AM Considering the copious amounts of Ford trucks being stuck all over the place, I don't know why they opted to sell it without the hooks. There is a related story from the last weekend. I wanted to show William a place in the foothills of the Rockie Mountains where I go to relax with my dogs . On the way there we met a family of four walking by the road. The lady waved at me so I replied and kept driving slowly along. William goes, " stop, they're in distress, they need help!" And sure enough, a guy took his new Wrangler to a muddy trail and got stuck. The trail was designated for quads and it was fairly rainy last week. We drove them to the nearest camp site where they had a CB radio to call for help. I politely suggested, to get some recovery gear and not to go out alone. Especially on an unknown trail, or anywhere in that matter. Get a buddy and a survival kit, study nature, check the weather forecast, be prepared. That dude was probably excited about his new ride and completely jeopardized the safety of his wife and kids. No drama, but it could have turned ugly real fast that day. , The storm was closing in and sure enough that night was pouring rain. 3
ScottsGT Posted Saturday at 01:10 PM Posted Saturday at 01:10 PM I love it! People think all of a sudden they’re invincible against mud and trails because their car/truck has a little sticker on it “All Wheel Drive” or 4x4. They don’t realize a certain amount of knowledge goes with that. One of my favorite sayings…”A Winch will just get you stuck further out in the woods or trails.” I watched my son and his friend learn this the hard way. Unfortunately they dragged me into the drama a time or two. Happiest day of my life was when I took the Samurai away from my son. 2
