BlrwestSiR Posted December 1 Posted December 1 Japanese garage kits back in the '80s and '90s featured a lot of unlicensed vinyl models. Mostly figures but also vehicles. A few have recently been reissued and are even licenced now. That's the case with this Chibi Godzilla I picked up last year. Made by Kaiyodo, it even has a trademark registration on it. It's a simple kit, just three parts. The excess vinyl gets trimmed off. They generally put in some cut lines to help guide you. Tail and lower body press fit together. Then add the upper body and the assembly is done. Now the fun part- the paint job. 6

There are two types of model enthusiasts. Those who haven't yet spilled a bottle of glue and those who have. I belong to the latter group. Done that before😑 I hate when that happens. Last time the CA spilled over a Takom SMK tank I was building....destroyed in seconds 1

GusMac Posted December 4 Posted December 4 Got the basic painting done on the F4D. All done with MRP and free-handed to give the new H&S airbrush (and me) a bit of a test. I sometimes forget how easy the MRP is to use. Next up is all the fun masking around the rear and on the tail for a coat of Tamiya LP black as a base for the metallics. 6

BlrwestSiR Posted December 6 Posted December 6 And I found it! Looking for a Mad Max conversion kit somewhere in the stash, I found the Amusing Hobby FV217 Badger I'd started last year. I wanted to finish it earlier this fall when I came across the box with the few remaining parts in it but no tank. Wasn't on my bench so I had no idea where it had gone. Seems it got put in a storage container so now I'm good to get it done 5

Meeting a whole bunch of great modellers, mostly old gentlemen that were willing to share their impressive knowledge of figure making and realistic painting. One of them showed me a similar way, where he used a bunch of wires taken from an old TV ( yes it was long time ago), coiled them up into a future tree trunk and once a while let a strand of wires out for branches. Then he brush-coated the whole thing with plaster of Paris creating an interrupted layer of bark looking surface. The cool part was the fact that he was able to create roots and branches from big to small, simple and brilliant . 4

GusMac Posted Saturday at 11:04 PM Posted Saturday at 11:04 PM Got the base colours down for the metallics at the rear. Xtreme Metal aluminium, dark aluminium, duralumin and steel over Tamiya LP1. Just waiting for some new paints and then we can dirty everything to make it look used. 7

Looking great , nice tonal variations .l dont know if you are a fan of Flory washes but used them in the past on NMF and they really pop the dirt and smoke residue effect . 1 1

It's the first ZM kit I've built and I have to say I'm impressed. I know their 1/32 kits are said to over-engineered but this seems sensible and goes together very nicely. 2 1
