Ron.... you may not have to 'make' the fittings, if you have a Hobbytown USA store near you, go there and in their locked case with all the Detail Master car stuff, they have 'fittings' in 1/25 scale, I bought some for my 1/25 scale truck models, failing that  try the local Hobby Lobby, store, they 'might' have them...... HT USA in Spokane Washington had them, that's where I got mine.....and they come in chrome, red, and blue

Hey Jeff

I am using Detail Master fittings, but you have to put them on the braided wire, which is a royal PITA...lol

Just like the real things.... those cool braided lines we see on show cars etc, I heard it is a task that should take extreme patience and skill...... I'm still hanging in here watching every update, and this just gets better and better..... and for the record the fittings and wire look perfect

oooooooooooooo  I would be interested  in a sheet... ........if they want to sell one at a reasonable price....

Hey Jeff

The name of the place is "fundekals" maybe if we all ask him for them he will start printing them again. They went for $9.00 US.

That's doable......  As I am not sure I'd need the HUGE scales on the sheet, I'd be willing to trade for some of the smaller ones, but that is a real good selection.... it is a reasonable price for sure............................ I'm there now, and I see it, may have to place an order ! Thanks Ron....

Hey Jeff

Yeah I really only need the 1/32 and 1/24 scale ones. I would probably just resell the other scales on Ebay. He is sending me a partial portion of the last one he has in stock at the moment, the 1/24 & 1/18 ones. Not what I really wanted, but better than nothing for now.

Hey Jeff

You still have to add the fittings to the braided wire, which is a real pain in the ass, very difficult and tedious. The spark plug wires are going to be even harder to do, but will look really cool.

Everything still needs to be touched up, but I'm getting closer to finishing this engine. Well back to work still have a lot to do. Later all.

Ok everybody stop! I've found another error from Airfix. On page 39 from the instruction manual in SEC. <153> it shows installing part J7 (quantity is 9) on the front of the rear engine cylinder bank, they need to go on with the bow on the bottom or you won't be able to get part J2 in the next section to go on. Airfix kind  of forgot to explain that. So don't screw up like I did and put em on with the bow up :wallbash::hsmack::censored: It's the same on the front cylinder bank. I have to fix that too...damn. I really need to be more diligent and not rush...my bad:popo::rtfm:

Hello Ron, I've made the same mistake, but if you really look carefully at the drawing from Airfix then they are pictured with the bow down, only when you put them on the engine it doesn't "feel" right, so i mounted them also bow up, and then indeed it's a pain in the **ss to get part J2 to slide over them, I was to late to correct it, and my build is an in flight model so it really doesn't matter for me. Following your build, it will be a beauty when finished,

Frank

Just a little update

20190803_135136.jpgthese is the engine temporarily assembled with the prop.

20190803_135446.jpgfront of the engine through the cowl.

20190803_135237.jpgport side view. I've started some preshading.

20190803_135207.jpgstarboard side view.

20190803_135301.jpgrear view, don't forget I'm doing mine as a F6F-3, so most stuff here should be light grey, but decided to mix it up a little for some contrast. I figure it has been in for repairs a few times and had mixed parts added.

20190803_135326.jpgstill have to add a lot of details and some more weathering. I have most everything painted now. I just have to add wires, piping and oil tank and armor plate etc...etc. ...etc.
