JohnB
I am looking for the two above items for a Hobby Boss F-84E I plan to build. I had previously, a few years ago, bought some from Harold at AMS for a F-84G I built but I don't see his site listed now. Any help is appreciated!
Martinnfb
I have the G model, I vaguely recall that HB put E brake to G-sprue and vice-versa . If that is the case , we can trade.
JohnB
Yes they did. I'll be happy to swap airbrakes with you. Thanks!
Martinnfb
John , I think I traded the brake with somebody before and forgot about that. This is what I have
JohnB
I'll have to take a look at the kit part when it arrives (ebay buy) and see what is what. I expect it to deliver by this Friday.

Martinnfb
Hi John, I looked into it, so the brake with 42 holes (picture bellow), is the later variant used on the G model, you need the one with four slots.

JohnB
Since the E comes with the wrong air brake (with all the holes) I still need to snag a correct E item. Anybody???
1to1scale
So, clarify for me, which air brake is correct for the G model? I have the H sprue, are all the parts on this sprue correct for the G or E?

JohnB
The one with the 4 slots is correct for a E (as far as I know).
1to1scale
But what about the G? I don’t want to trade, then find out I have the wrong part for the G. If someone can clarify, I would happily trade.
Martinnfb
For G you need 42 hole,
1to1scale
Ok John, I found this in my F-84 book, it looks like the G used both, that from 51-1079 ser no, they switched to the holes. So technically, either is correct for the G. I checked and the decals I have indicate it was a later G, so I’ll go ahead a swap you. 2
JohnB
That sounds like a plan! I should have the kit by the end of the week. As soon as I get I'll pull out the piece you need. Thanks!
SapperSix
When I saw this post I was thinking John = Corsair post. And that quickly went to"Is there a version of the F-84 Corsair that I am not aware of?". I mean, if anyone knows...Its John. Then my brain caught up to the fact that John is building the F-84, nothing at all to do with said Corsair...Man this world has gone mad..... I am not sure what to believe at this point....
1to1scale
Holy cow! This plane is bigger than I thought! I was surprised at the size of it, I always thought these were smaller.

According to my book, they used this brake through the early G’s you can see this G had the slots.
Martinnfb
That is correct, also older E models were sometimes retrofitted by the new brake.
1to1scale
I’m guessing Hobby Boss used a cobbled together museum plane for measurements.
