Tamiya's 1/32 P-51D Mustang

Haha... The more I look at the complexity of this kit, the more I think I ought to stop myself from building two at once. Still gotta finish this Mustang yet! -

NICE! Fantastic timing, not sure if I can wait that long to start! I see that the GB states that a kit cannot be more than than 10% completed. Any idea how much work a guy could do to stay under that 10% rule? I am VERY interested in participating in the GB, but wouldn't want to do too much and not be able to participate. FWIW, I build at glacial speed LOL. -
Tamiya's 1/32 P-51D Mustang

I have been waiting ever so patiently for the new big Corsair from Tamiya, vowing to start it the day it landed here! Well, the two kits I ordered arrived today, and I was planning to start them until I received a call that my OTHER new toy was in and ready for delivery. Never spent so much money in one day as I did today! So, instead of building today, I spent the day taking care of the financials. -

Thanks for looking in fellas, all I have managed to accomplish in the past week is doing compatibility tests between the Alclad paint, Tamiya plastic, and clear coats. Some wins, some fails, and all in the name of fun! Hope to get some real paint on her soon. Thanks again guys! -
Oh yeah baby, those DO look good! I hadn't heard about them before either.

Cheers Dave, your Spitfire looks FANTASTIC!!! Love the USAAC desert Spits, and thanks to you I want to build another one!

Do you have an estimated cost for this kit? Very intriguing, though cost will determine if I can buy a copy. -

Thanks for the clarification Dave, good to know! Finished the assemblies today, need to mask up the gear bays and such before painting begins. Soon, very soon! Looking forward to finishing this one up soon so I am ready to start the Tamiya Corsair when it lands here. -

Thanks for the tips Dave! When tinting the paint, do you use acrylics or enamels? Perhaps lacquers? Curious as to which would work best for this stuff. Thanks for looking in Rick! This really is an amazing kit, I was stunned by how tightly the cowl panels fit, even better than the Spitfire's. I opted to leave most of the engine out, and seal up the cowl. In retrospect, I think adding the engine parts and magnets for the removable panels would have worked well, and made the painting a bit easier. Oh, well... the next one will get that treatment! -

Thanks Dave, glad you like it! I have been planning on using Alclad, but have read great things about Tamiya's AS-12 silver as well. Hoping to play around with the Tamiya stuff this weekend, may end up using both of them here. This one is going to finished as "SCAT VII" flown by Robin Olds. Haha, thanks Mike! I appreciate you stopping in to have a look! -

Cheers Dave, thanks for asking! I have indeed been busy on this one, in fact- I have had so much fun building her thus far that I keep forgetting to stop and take progress pics. Sorry for the tardiness, here is how she looks right now. The majority of the build is complete, and I have begun the masking process. The front canopy is attached and masked, and I just finished removing the seam on the main canopy. Once that is attached, I can finish masking the gear bays and a few other small items then off to the paint shop. I admit to being a bit scared, this is my first ever NMF paint job! I have done smaller things like metal prop blades and detail parts, but never an entire airframe. Keep your fingers crossed for me, I am going to need it! -
1/32 Tamiya A6M2 Zero
Daywalker replied to PAnderson's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
Beautiful Zero, like this one a lot! A little note about Zero antennas- a lot of them were removed as the radios were often removed to save weight. Typically, they just cut them off flush with the canopy. If you want, you could do the same and call it intentional! -

Really nice work, love the shade you used for the propeller blades. Can I ask what color you used for these? -
