I'll second that! -
I fully intend to have something for next year since it's only a couple hours away. I need to get this shat bucket Airfix 109 off my bench so I can start something else.

Do you know if they are going to have the usual lanyard and back stage pass type holder at the convention?
-
What is the dimension of said holders? Anyone have access to hi-res logo or maybe a vector?

Need a volunteer to do some artwork?

RCAF Lanc 10MP. This really is a group effort

I think you nailed it. Of coarse, not every aircraft has the same staining but they tend to be quite similar. I was going to comment on this earlier in the thread when IIRC, someone made the observation that the outboard engines have less exhaust staining than the inboards by pretty substantial amount. This was backed up by a picture and there was a little talk about what might cause this phenomenon. If you just look at the wing you can see what is going on. When you look at it not sitting on the gear but in the attitude it would take in flight from the front, the wings obviously start to up-sweep just past the inboard engines and continue this angle to the end of the wing. The outboard engines while mounted on the up-swept wing are mounted so they are level in flight (X and Y axis) as are the inners, leaving the outboard engine's outboard exhaust stacks farther away from the leading edge of the wing than is the inboard exhaust stacks. So the inboard engines have nearly identical staining while the outboard engines have less staining on the inboard exhaust and even less on the outboard exhaust. We must have looked at the same photos.......... -

It's unlikely you would find a perfectly painted aircraft or tank anyway. I would bet paint blowing under a mask/stencil or over spray past the masked area is/was very common. They were not painting these things for show, they were painting them to be instantly recognized. -

.....then print in resin. -
Got the artwork done and cut some test masks. I think I need to bump the S a little closer to the cross. Maybe center it between the panel lines. Other than that I think it's pretty close.

I was just thinking I should crack this open and have a looksie but I think I'm getting the vibe that it's not so bueno......

Ha! Horrible is quite kind of you. I have a half built Hasegawa P-38 on the SOD just to remind me what a turd looks like. Good news for sure but I'm not a player at 1:48 anymore.

It's only 39 inches of tape. A little less than a buck a foot. -

Not to jack Ern's thread but I think this is a good time to drop this tip. I have purchased a roll of this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000QEBEXC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A23VKRUGUD63LA&psc=1 and I can not distinguish it from Tamiya tape. Obviously it does not replace the need for the thinner rolls of Tamiya but it's a helluva lot more economical for general masking. And lasts forever...... been tapping into my roll since 2014 for plastic models and RC stuff and I still have half a roll. -
Just to get a better idea how colors desaturate I took an image of a crappy color chart I found on the interweb and made a comparison. While not scientific, controlled or consideration made for ambient light source, it is pretty telling. Many colors we can differentiate look the same desaturated. It is particularly interesting what happened to 66 through 75.

Thanks for the link. Interesting read, especially for someone who's not a camera buff.
