  1. Carl, that looks awesome, my friend! I’m a huge supporter of Alcoa’s, but I really doubt being able to have a smooth, even coat with no blemishes or thin spots for the entire airframe. Did you use a black base with that silver?
  2. Jeff, I emailed Mike Belcher a few days back. No answer.
  3. Stunning build! One of my favorite jets of all time.
  4. Alclad? Mr. Color metallics? Model Master? Which paint to y'all use for the best results? I've used Alclad with great results, but it can be blotchy over larger areas. I'd love to try foil, but I don't have the time. Comments.
  5. That guy must feel like a real dork.
  6. Does anyone have a source for the red fire extinguisher, fire axe, and other emergency crew rescue markings. Does anyone make a decal set for these, or are we kind of on our own here?
  7. ooo, ooo, ooo! Someone's actually building a real, live airplane.
  8. Just the kind of GB we want: a bunch of halfwit airplane guys building armor. this GB is going to look like a room full of Chimpanzees on typewriters... I LOVE IT!!
  9. picked this up specifically for this build. Hopefully it’ll be quick and easy. So far, my only AM will be resin wheels and hubs. Not much will happen here until my Lanc is done, but I may pick away at it if the Lanc’s indisposed.
  10. Thanks Martin. It’s an easy project, actually. Like how you cut up a resin kit, what do they say? The first cut is the deepest. It’s all downhill from there.
  11. Yes Jeff, I agreed to send Mike Belcher some pics for his use. What he decides to do with them is totally up to him, though.
  12. Spent all my spare time sanding, filling imperfections, scribing, riveting, distressing a few places to look like sheet metal repair patches performed by drunken monkeys. A good, solid coat of white primer let’s me see imperfections. next, mask the areas that will be NMF and hit them with black.
  13. Great review,Jeroen. The Lac is a brilliant kit, and the Dambusters conversion Sprue only adds to it.
  14. And last night I found the Mirror Models Caterpillar D7 7M armored bulldozer that was hiding out in a drawer. THIS should make a VERY interesting model of some D-Day equipment.
  15. Mike, you're not the only one. This looks like it might be a serious breakout for some of us. I'm actually really looking forward to this. And somewhere in my stash I have a German halftrack with a resin IR nightlight conversion of some kind. I might, A. see if the timeline is right, and B. Give it a shot. Who knows, I might even start to like these things
  16. Guard your Hobbycraft P-51A's. It doesn't look like we'll get any more for quite a few years. I expect they'll get to be like hen's teeth.
  17. I’m looking at the gold mine in that junked aircraft pole of parts in the foreground...
  18. She’s a big ol’ lady. and a correction to my observer window post. I BUFFED them up, not buggered them up. Autocorrect induce typo.
  19. We Phil, Matchbox kits are a product of the time, lots of moulded on detail with simplified everything, and trenches for panel lines. But the Lizzie is generally an accurate kit and with some minor scratchbuilding turns out great. I’m sure you’ll love it, and with what’s turning out to be a ground pounder’s GB, an Army Co-Op machine is a great addition.
  20. YES! I was thinking it might have been a very, very good time to build a truly beat up P-51A, but to me, nothing says “Normandy” like a Tiffie... We’ll give it a try after the 6 ton White. Although I might just do the Allison bird. I just need to get an accurate spinner....
  21. Jeff, I took the cheater’s way out: I bought another kit and swiped the wheel from it. I’ll replace that spruce once they appear on eBay, then build the kit. I’ll definitrly build it because I love the Lanc. And this kit builds like a dream. As for the observers windows, Mike Swinburne 3D printed me several. I buffed them up and dipped them in Future.
  22. Phil, if you're thinking Lysander, despite all the issues the 1/32 Matchbox model has, I've seen some very, very decent builds from that kit.
