To me a quick build is 24 hours on the bench, completely OOB except maybe for belts an decals. That oftentimes can mean a couple weeks to a month for me, depending on free time, of which I have very little. The F-5 is a recharger of the batteries for me. I was getting a bit burned out. Some can build quicker, not me.

Kitty Hawk F-5F done.Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress Nyet! It was done by the proletariat as a service that will benefit the collective.

Well, with all the 190s out there, and the recognized experten in the field, there should be absolutely no reason whatsoever a 100% accurate model can’t be produced.

Nice almost unreal photograph of F-18Clunkmeister replied to Martinnfb's topic in General Discussion I’d have woken up there after being kidnapped, and trust me, my pants would be sagging from the immense load. It might come as a surprise to you guys, but I’m scared of heights. Not thousands of feet, but the 40-60 feet that over an embankment, or the edge of the Grand Canyon. I’m a believer in technology. Airplanes were built so we don’t need to go stand in such stupid spots.

Kitty Hawk F-5F done.Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress And here’s some dimensions of the rear panel in mm for the Europeans among us, which appear to be most of us.

Kitty Hawk F-5F done.Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress Here’s the decals. Front and rear pits with console decals, and panel decals. These decals have had one light coat of MicroSol, no going over whatsoever since dry. As you can see, they performed extremely well. I’m going to go over them with a sharp #11 and then hit them up again. Maybe the scopes needs some transparent green over gunmetal?

Kitty Hawk F-5F done.Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress So unfortunately, last night I had already placed the decals, so there’s no going back. As of Saturday, this model has been spoken for. A gentleman wants it for his display, wants it stock OOB, except I can have my choice with seatbelts. So, Sundowners it is, box stock, and my old standby of HGW belts.

Freedom Flyers flew war Veterans for free. It looks like that’s what they were doing when the incident occurred.

Kitty Hawk F-5F done.Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress That was my plan. If I build another I’ll have the left over decal. And so far, it’s building up very, very nicely

Kitty Hawk F-5F done.Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress That’s the issue we all run into. Unless you’re retired or independently wealthy, finding time is always the biggest challenge.

Kitty Hawk F-5F done.Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress Phil, my left knee was keeping me up. Signs of age. LOL. So I bellied up to the bench.

Kitty Hawk F-5F done.Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress And there it is.

Kitty Hawk F-5F done.Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress Uh oh. Malfunction at the junction. Decal fubar for the USMC version. Here’s both sides of the original decal sheet. They gave you two of the same side And both have the lettering backwards in the Red Star. Oooops! And here’s the one corrected side given, with the corrected lettering. So you’ll need to fix the lettering and Red Star. So typical Marines! First into battle, all gung ho ready to fight like maniacs, and missing half their kit....

Kitty Hawk F-5F done.Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress I can fake it well enough with a bit of plastic and some well placed wires.

Kitty Hawk F-5F done.Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress Very, very tempting but that’s what the pile of one holers are for.

Kitty Hawk F-5F done.Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress This is just a quick dry assembly of the he forward fuselage, and so far I’ve found absolutely nothing untoward. Just remember tvat KittyKawk’s method of molding does leave some edges with a bit of flash. The ever present ejection towers need to be nipped off and I’ve seen evidence of flow marks, but so far no sink areas. Just inspect for, and deal with sink spots if you find them. They’re a pain, but they happen.

Kitty Hawk F-5F done.Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress Hmm. “I see”, said the blind carpenter to his deaf wife. Who then picked up his hammer and saw.

Kitty Hawk F-5F done.Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress Hey guys, I think I have some great news to report. I looked at the reviews of the single seater, and one of the goods they found was that the right side console was backwards, necessitating a quick razor saw job. It looks like Kitty Hawk has fixed that little oversight Maybe the resident F-5-o-holics could verify? Here’s the front and rear offices. Rear first
