I’ll add one thing to the discussion here. I’ve noticed that for me at least, I’ve become progressively crappier at brush painting. I’m not sure, but I think it might actually be the paint formulation. It seems to need much more reducers just to make it flow.

It took me years to become proficient with a double action airbrush and I’ll be darned if I’m going to put it down now! So I try to airbrush everything. But.... except for exhaust streaking, I usually weather with a brush. Rain streaks, etc, pinwashes, and dot filters, always and only with a brush. And obviously, you can’t do fine details such as cockpit tiny detailing with an airbrush....

While driving on the401 in 03-04, I saw the coming and going out of Trenton very regularly. Think about it. There’s no other civilian aircraft anywhere in the world that can do what the 124 and 225 can do. But if they don’t find a solution quickly, they might end up being all grounded. They actually need to start building more. There’s a huge worldwide market for them

This is such a cool aircraft. Not ugly per se, but goofy and complicated in a way a you’d expect from Rube Goldberg, yet it worked incredibly well. A modelers dream. A super tough design, used from the very first right to the very last day of the war, and all but forgotten today.

I asked at one time, and as far as I know it’s some aircraft stuff and rocket parts. I see them over my shop, but have yet to catch one on the ground yet. Hopefully soon. An-124 is easily the most common Russian/Ukrainian type I’ve seen in this Country. I’ve personally seen them in Rockford, Il, Winston-Salem, NC, Atlanta, Ga, Tampa, Fl, Houston, Tx, DFW, plus the one military base I saw them at was CFB Trenton. That was in the early mid 2000s and I assumed they were moving the Army over to the sandbox to play.

No argument from me, John. The Vector cockpit is a real gem and worth every cent. The kit is a real sweetheart as well. I’m sure glad I bough several for cheap when they were getting no love whatsoever from the modeling community.

This will make the 1/32 Lanc look tiny. We get An-124s in and out of DFW on a regular basis, and the 225 makes the 124 look small.

Apparently they’ve been sipping the Stolichnaya again, because it seems that they're bringing us a 1/72 scale An-225 Mirya sometime in 2019. This thing is gonna be huuuuuuuuge! Of course, many here know of my love affair with large Russian airlifters, so this will definitely join the collection.

There’s plenty of pics of RAF and AAF A’s on the flight line so beat up they look like parts should be falling off them. I know there was more than a few of them that just crapped out and fell apart.

Don’t forget, Phil, that Canada also developed the Lancastrian conversion as well. Not exactly the York, but it did the job.

Yes, they’re almost common in Canada. One of the world’s two flying examples, plus another that with a bit of work, could fly, and six more static. There were enough still in service in the 50s and enough men who had served on them in the war, that when they were retired, they were preserved. plus, when they were retired, Avro was kind of in the front of everyone’s mi d with the Arrow cancellation and all.

Jeff, I think much of it can be masked, although the Red Ensigns and any Squadron crests will need to be decals. Custom work for sure.

I always like looking at the backgrounds on all these old photos. For example, one of them shows us a couple C-119s and a C-47. Interesting stuff

Good to see you here, man. It’s decidedly laid back and friendly around here. Nobody, and I mean nobody tries to cause issues, matter of fact, the only issues we had were when an Admin and a Mod from there came here to sling brown poopy stuff around until they were shown the door. I was exactly 6 years too late coming to LSM, man. I plan on building one of these as soon as it’s available. Straight OOB as much as possible too to achieve a white/nmf/red lightning stripe postwar RCAF.
