  1. Better a cluttered desk and a clear mind, than the other way 'round... Meanwhile, I think I've discovered why the Cat's always at the bench? S
  2. Without knowing the specifics... And if I can allay your worries a little, my take is that if the Company has paid for the Medical (and you passed it) then they want you; otherwise they don't usually go to that expense unless they intend to put you on. I went through the same process, as I am now technically casual Labour Hire and not an Employee yet where I am now, so had to pass the Medical and Drug tests as well. I am 2/3rds through my 3 month probation, then after a year or so if they like you they offer you Permanent. So once you get a start, it's up to you to make a go if it and make yourself irreplaceable (if that even exists anymore). It was all a little Secret Squirrel for a while there before I heard anything, and I was starting to worry as I had to give a month's notice where I was. I only got the call on the Thursday before the Monday they wanted me to start... This is how Temp hire companies operate apparently, on a day to day basis. And don't worry about your WIP planning... You'll have plenty of time to think about it in your off-time inside your Donga for a fortnight! S
  3. Make sure to get that licence this Financial Year if you can Rog... The fee for the training, the test costs, and the actual licence itself (as well as the Forklift ticket) will all be a Tax deduction if you start at the Mines before July 1st. You may need that depending on how much of a payout you got, to offset the extra you might get slugged by the ATO. I also changed jobs earlier this year. I realise it was a risk, and I was a little conflicted seeing how Phil and others have been affected through circumstances beyond their control. But it was the change I needed to address the final phase of my working life. I've seen too many Men in my situation stay longer than they should have in Transport, and end up sore and broken and unable to adapt to a new career when their bodies gave out on them. Good luck with this new phase of your life Mate... S
  4. Which will end up having a Cat on it, who are we kidding? More bench space = more started kits for Carl. S
  5. That is surprising... Because the Revell Fw-190 kit to me is a real head-scratcher. Wish Tamiya would do one... S
  6. Chin up Harv, you could always try Naked Twister... No, not the game; it's where your house and all your clothes get blown away! S
  7. The worst part about 'The Acid Test' is it means the end of the Album. Unable to model to the Chemical Brothers... Can't help but see the video clips in my head from tracks like 'Let Forever Be' or 'Star Guitar' . Those bloody Trains! Too distracting. S
  8. Struggling for motivation, haven't accomplished anything significant for a few months now. So, back to riveting I go. Something mind-numbingly mundane, yet still requiring concentration. S
  9. India is getting blasted, because there is no widespread culture of hygiene there... My former workplace was of about 50% Indian heritage and had to put up signs in the toilets saying "Do not stand on the seats"; some of them at the height of the Pandemic were living in sharehouses and hot-bunking with others who would drive Cabs or Übers all night. Let me stress, this is not a criticism; if you're not shown or told the proper behaviour you can't be expected to just know it. It's like putting a member of the public at random in a cockpit and expecting them to know how to fly an aircraft. Many Indian Australians are among our best and brightest, however there also many from the lower Castes who still behave as they would in the Third World. There is a gradual shift happening Worldwide towards covert Autocracy. Freedoms are gradually being restricted, aided largely by the Pandemic and "Social Justice" issues. This is a natural progression of the successful campaign against Anthropogenic Climate Change, and the active discrimination and even prosecution of Scientific dissenters. We are already witnessing the demonisation of anti-Vaxers and mask Protesters. My final year of High School was 1984, and subsequently we had to read the Orwell novel of the same name and submit a treatise as an assessment. This is becoming a little too familiar for my liking. S
  10. Political aspects of the Pandemic have risen to the top down here... At the start of May, the Government put a stop to Australian Citizens and Residents returning from India, due to the current uncontrolled wave of infections there. There are said to be over 9000 Australian Citizens there currently, out of a population of around a million Australians who were either born in India or to Indian Parents... Roughly 1 in 25 of the general population. Inevitably, there were calls of "Racism" from some quarters of the Indian Community and various Political figures. Not helping the situation were reports that Australians returning against the Government advice via third Nations such as Singapore or Doha would be fined and/or jailed under provision legislated last year. Strangely, there were no similar knee-jerk reactions from the Press when South Africa was placed on the no-travel list earlier in the Pandemic. An Australian man who has been in India for over a year is taking the Federal Government to court to overturn the India Travel ban; this is all the more bizarre, as a number of my Work colleagues flew to India for Diwali and returned in November last year... Perhaps he just didn't want to leave India and return to the relative safety of Australia back last year when 4000 people weren't dying on a daily basis. More people have died in the past week here from blood clots. It's still under ten total though, out of just over 2 million vaccinations. A Sydney man also caught the virus last week; they matched it to a man from New York who had been hospitalised 500 metres from the closest point near to where he had been, but are still missing the link between the two of them. We are fortunate here that a single case is the worst thing the Authorities have to worry about. Wouldn't want to be in India. S
  11. Then better make a good show of it! Good to see you here Nick... S
  12. Agree, lovely motor... Just love that little P&W logo. S
  13. I really hope you meant to write 'kick'... S
  14. For example; this obvious step on the fuselage sides, looking like they've just sandwiched two pieces together rather than made a complete side in one attempt. Really bizarre for a kit from a mainstream Manufacturer in the 21st Century, especially as it doesn't appear on the earlier incarnations of these moulds. S
  15. Newer, and a great basis for an Fw-190. But still not IMHO a vast improvement over the Hasegawa kits. In fact, some of the mould technology looks more like a kit from the 70's. A gift from my Wife for my recent Birthday... Which means I have to build it (and offload another from the stash). S
  16. Apologies Martin, we are told that more is more when it comes to applying the Sika Mastic. Rather too much than an inadequate coverage, especially when it's used in areas of water leakage. This factor also makes it especially difficult for assemblers when doing interiors, as it's really hard to get out of felts and carpets. We're not meant to think about the consequences of taking it out. S
  17. You have so many projects on the go... Leave it there! S
  18. I think it's a Fouga Magister Gaz... With flaps deployed. S
  19. Yes, but you won't be able to squeeze the battery into the engine bay tho... S
  20. Congratulations Mark, Here's hoping that the new job is a good fit for you, and that improves your work/life balance. S
  21. I have a chair in mind, for your little space... Murhahahahahahahaha! S
  22. Sade, Tina Arena, Katie Noonan and Annie Lennox are also on my list, along with more recently Shirley Manson and Florence Welch... All Women who can actually sing and be heard at the back of an Auditorium, instead of wailing in glottal falsetto as seems to be the current vogue. My Wife is a big Pink fan, sometimes she puts a DVD on and I have that in the background. It's middling enough that I can model to it, I class her as a better Performer than strictly a Singer.
