Hasegawa 1/32 Fw 190 D9
BevanBrooks replied to BevanBrooks's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Thanks guy's. The undersides have been weathered. Using oils I've concentrated on the main panel lines building up gunk and grime deposits Sealed under acrylic clear to protect it. Next in line are the wheels, spinner and prop blades. Cheers Bevan -

Hi Guy's. I've moved on to the weathering stage now, starting with the sooty exhaust stains. Tamiya xf85 rubber black and xf9 hull red were used being well thinned. I usually go overboard with the staining so I tried to keep it restrained by my standards. A coat of clear sealed it all in. Next I used oils, black and burnt umber mixed fairly thin. Photos show a build up of gunk and stuff around the stiffeners and rivet lines, so this is what I concentrated on darkening it up closer to the exhausts. Thanks for looking cheers Bevan -
Exellent!! Your figure painting is also! Cheers Bevan

Hi John, going off assumptions out of Japo's Vol 2 Focke-Wulf Fw 190D camouflage and markings, I could of used RLM 83 instead of the 81 but chose not to. Japo also allude to a lot of d9's having a high contrast upper wing scheme of 76 and one of the darker camo colours in this case the 81 but yes its 76 on top. Sadly I dont have any links Cheers Bevan -

Hey Mike, the green/blue 76 is a custom mix. Gunze H74 sky (duck egg green) 1ml Tamiya XF2 flat white 12 drops Tamiya XF12 jn grey 2 drops. Thats the basic colour, I also used the h74 in random spots as well as the xf 12 all well thinned. Hope this helps Cheers Bevan -

Appreciate the comments guy's.............. Dan, only if you bring some 32nd scale stuff yourself mate lol. Painting is pretty much complete, basic camo colours are RLM 81 brown violet, RLM 83 dark green, RLM 76 light blue and the green/blue shade of 76. Doing white 12 of 5./JG301, Bad Langensalza, May 1945. I normally use Gunze acrylics but a little Tamiya was used as well, the photos are a little fuzzy I must need glasses. Thanks for looking, cheers Bevan -
1/32 A.M.U.R. Reaver Correction set for Revell Bf 109G-5/6/14
BevanBrooks replied to Mikester's topic in Aircraft Reviews
Nice review Mike. Could you actually build a G5 from the kit or do you need this set to be able to do so. I must admit, these sets may be the incentive I need to buy one of Revell's G6. I'v got the G10 and can't wait to start it really. Cheers Bevan -

That would be a negative on the scheme Dave! I just don't know. -
This was started at the beginning of 2013 and stalled ever since. I'm hoping by posting it I will get some enthusiasm to keep plodding along on it in between other stuff This is a nice kit, cockpit painted using Tamiya xf71 cockpit green. I lightened it with xf 3 yellow and post shaded. The black is Tamiya Nato black. It was then cleared with automotive acrylic clear thinned with gp thinner. A wash of oils followed then a coat of Humbrol flat clear. Dry brushed with a mix of MM RLM 62 and Humbrol matt 24 yellow. I did 2 rounds of oils and dry brushing to get the desired effect. Seat straps are made out of lead foil and painted Humbrol 93 and weathered with pigments.Seat cushions painted with Humbrol 155 and washed with oils, drybrushed with Hum 121. All instruments picked out by brush using Humbrol enamels. I used Testors clear canopy glue for the guages. General weatherng was achieved with pastls and chipping/scratches using Derwent colored pencils Ficticious placards also added using bare metal foil for added interest.Final finish is Humbrol flat clear. Hope you enjoy the pics, cheers Bevan

This was built a while ago. Top wing camo is Testors enamel RLM range 74/75 over 76. The fuselage is Gunze RLM 83 as well as the testors 75. The 04 is testors as well. Eagle Cal decals were used on this one. Jerry Crandall's Volume 1 on the Dora has some great photos of this bird. The landing gear has at some stage been broken off so she sits a bit NQR (not quite right) Eduard colour pe seat belts and brass tubing gun barrels. Thanks for looking Cheers Bevan

Airframe is together and riveting complete. The supercharger intake isn't a one piece unit so I added some stretched sprue and stabbed at it with a number 11 blade to simulate a weld line. then I sanded it down a little to look like it was ground back a little. Rivets adde with the Trumpeter rivet tool. Radiator painted with xf85 rubber black and dry brushed with xf16 flat aluminium and washed with black oil paint. That's where its at for the moment thanks for looking Cheers Bevan -
Its unfortunate about the warping issue, the Dragon kit is nicly detailed oob. I've never joined the top wings to the fuselage first before on any build........ always worried me there would be troubles later down the track. May have to bite the bullet and just do it. Thanks Aaron for the feed back Bevan

Thats really cool, I take it that its the Dragon kit? The wings in mine are warped, did you have any trouble with that? I would really like to finish it up but its kinda put me off. Two thumbs up! Cheers Bevan

Jeroen, you'll have a blast with this one. Its a great kit, have fun with the reverse motteling camo. Looking forward to the kick off, cheers Bevan -
Yeah baby, thats the biz, love it!

Hi Paul thanks! The background is paper.

Seriously nice work on this one. The paint work accompanied by riveting takes it to a whole new level.......great work! Cheers Bevan

Built quite a few years ago now but still a favourite of mine. Paints are testors enamels and built OOB except for Eduard colour PE seat belts and Eagle Cals decals. Also brass tubing gun barrels. Cheers and thanks for looking. Bevan

Hi guy's, This one's been sitting on the bench for a while now so I thought I'd continue on and finish it. So many great schemes for these birds it makes it very difficult to choose one so I haven't yet, though have a couple in mind. An out of the box build aside from being fully riveted lead foil seat harness and brass tubing gun barrels. Kit instrument decal was cut and each gauge added separately using micro scale set and sol. No problems. Paints used so far are all Gunze thinned with gp thinner. Washes are oils. Chips are sharp Derwent pencils and xf16 flat aluminium enamel toned down with white oil paint and 2b grey lead. Seat harness made from lead foil with buckles from fuse wire. the were painted Tamiya buff, washed with oils and the edges painted with lightened buff for some high lights. Final flat coat is Testors Dull Coat. Straps added to the rudder pedals with masking tape. I added some extra pipe work to the engine plug as I thought it looked a little sparse taking this idea from a mag article I read years ago. Not sure of the silver I used but more than likely xf flat aluminium acylic washed with black and burnt umber oils and dabbed off with a rolled up piece of rag. The numbers are black prismacolour pencil A 50/50 mix of Tamiya xf22 grey and Gunze H70 RLM02 was used for all these parts. High lights are straight H70.Flat coat here is also Dull Coat. Cheers and thanks for looking Bevan.

Good to see some progress John. It is indeed a very interesting scheme and I am looking forward to more updates. Really like the over painted "3"and associated mottling. Cheers Bevan.
