  1. Thanks heaps guy's. Dave, the clear I use is an acrylic automotive one (Spies Hecker). Since I'm in the trade I can come across this fairly easily and at no cost and it goes a long way. You need to thin it with gp thinner so you need to be careful not to apply it tooo heavily. Kahunaminor, your welcome. I did it in 4 sittings adding up to about 10 or so hours give or take.
  2. Well she's got all her clothes on now. All I can say is this is a pretty tough camo pattern to do but very striking when completed. I'm glad I pushed on and finished it, very rewarding. I've applied a couple of coats of automotive acrylic clear to seal her up ready for decals and some oil washes. One thing I will suggest to anyone who is thinking of doing this scheme is to polish the bare plastic on the upper surfaces before applying the RLM 75 as it is slightly grainy. I didn't do this and when polishing the RLM 76 overspray off (obviously polishing the 75 as well, can't help that!)some of the tiny grainy bits of the plastic have showed through randomly. Just an FYI. Thanks for looking in cheers Bevan.
  3. You've done a great job on that camo Iain very convincing. I've just finished the camo on mine and it nearly killed me!! Cheers Bevan
  4. Love it Dave, what paints did you use. The decals....EagleCals? Love love love the late war 109's cheers Bevan.
  5. Beautiful work Rick, cool scheme. Never had the guts to try a winter scheme. What did you do around the balkenkreuz for masking? The nose tulips really set it off. Cheers Bevan
  6. I think I'll try drinking it instead!! Thanks mate, yeah filters, thinking of avery thin coat of 76 to tone down the 75 a tad. Then move on to oil filtres and weathering.
  7. Thanks Ed thats why its took so long to get started on the lattice pattern. I couldn'look at it any longer the way it was so just bit the bullet.
  8. Thanks Doug, I was thinking that but a very thin coat of 76 could also work as a filter over the airframe. Either or!!
  9. Thanks Matt. The airbrush I use is called "Runway 13"
  10. Thanks for the feed back Johan looking forward to seeing more work on this cheers Bevan
  11. It's been a while since I've worked on the 219. I've managed to get the RLM75 on and start the lattice pattern of RLM 76 I can tell you, don't try this scheme with an airbrush that isn't working properly really does suck all the fun out of it. Seems no matter what I did I still got heaps of spatter/ overspray something I haven't experienced this bad before. I've lightly rubbed the surface with a 3000 pad to help get rid of it. I'm hoping, when the rest of the 76 is done, that the washes and weathering will help hide it and tie it all in. Even though the airbrush was clean I still pulled it down and cleaned it again. All in all I think I'm getting the hang of the pattern and am pleased with at least that so far. Thanks for looking cheers Bevan.
  12. I like your work very much cant wait to see it finished cheers Bevan
  13. I love the patchyness of the paintwork, looks just like the real thing. What paints are you using and at what thinning ratios? Real eye candy cheers Bevan
  14. Hey Jeroen great work so far. Awesome photos, nice and crisp! Its always a guessing game to some extent on those late war camo colours!! Good luck. But I would say that the generator prop is not 76 or yellow, could it be painted a certain colour by a sub contractor? 02 perhaps? Cheers Bevan
  15. Excellent stuff love the third pic. I assume your using oils here? Cheers Bevan
  16. Looking good mate! You've done a great job on those wheels I reckon they look awesome. Coming together nicely.
  17. The painting stage has commenced........ Initial pre shading with Tam xf2 flat white With approx. 50/50 xf23 xf2 I sprayed random panel lines and mottled in and around others. The dark areas are RLM66 sprayed to check scribing and any joins-seams. Gunze's H417 RLM 76 has been applied here. Being a semi gloss it doesn't cover and this is the result of numerous passes. I've only done this wing and nacelle.....nearly an hours worth of work slowly building up the colour! I'm not 100% convinced this looks anything like 76 will keep trudging along and see where I end up. BTW how do you preview your post? cheers Bevan
  18. Also great close up photos.................... following with interest cheers Bevan
  19. Nice choice David looking forward to the weathering cheers Bevan
  20. Very nice I love this scheme, it's a shame you had to go through all that work to get there!! One question....... why didn't you put the "YOU NOT" decals on the horizontal stabilisers, one of the reasons I did it. Congrats on a great build cheers Bevan
  21. Strange why it has only done it on one side. Maybe some contamination under the paint?? The markings really light up the camo colours. Really nice cheers Bevan
  22. Jamme, Martin, George, Mikster, Doug, Dave thanks very much chaps. Nick, thanks for the info have they made these for a weight or detail issue?
