I get the cost thing, as this hobby is a 'want' rather than a 'need' , at least in my house.... well I mean that's what Cathy says , but look at the cost of some of these kits today the Felixstowe is $350 , and I know of at least one guy who bought at least one and did a masterful job of building it , didn't you Ernie?, I personally don't think the price will have a huge effect on any of these large kits,.... the issue for me at least would be the huge out lay all at once..... some of the guys have built multiples of one aircraft, like Spitfires, Corsairs, and Mustangs, all of them were well over $100 each, it was just that the outlay of big bucks was spread over a little more time.... and in my eyes, and mine only as I have 4 of them, that is the biggest issue at the moment, if one takes the 5 or 6 Spitfires, or the 7 or 8 Corsairs, it would amount to almost the same amount of out lay, just not all at once..... and believe me I get that in a very big way.....and as far as all the hidden detail, Danny, yeah, you nailed that one right on the head, and that is one I would have no clue on how to get around , other than the clear fuselage pieces or a cutaway, and who wants to do that to a kit like this.............. I only wish I had a 6.5 billion worth to play like this..... maybe, just maybe as he is worth that kind of dosh, he may cut us a deal?? Naw, probably not.... all good points Danny, and always more food for thought.....love your points.... and this, everyone is just my worth...... I'd love to get one, but probably won't and will have to live this fantasy vicariously through you guys..... -

Yup, I agree, and so what, if there is more than one, no need to have a melt down over any of that stuff... we are damn lucky to have ONE big bomber let alone the B 25, and it variants, Mossie (2), B-17's, Lanc's and now the B 24................... AND more than just one variant.... who'd have ever thought....... so I really don't get why some of the other guys are so upset, I for one, think this is the coolest thing ever, not sure I can have one for a variety of reasons, mostly will I ever get it built and where would I put it when done, but those are MY issues, and I am looking forward to seeing the kit(s) and watching what is going to be some epic builds ( JohnB are you still listening?? LOL, I'm trying buddy , I have your back ) so In my silly little brain, I think this is ALL good, and it makes the world go around..... I wonder what's next, Wimpy, C-47, DC-4-6-or 7??? We live in good model times for sure...... can't wait to see the pics James...... -
wow this is great!

That's is why I'm not a Facebooker guy......................the bad guys and the cops have enough stuff on me anyway, that's why I'm hiding here ..... where no one can find me......

I see a lot of guys OTS are upset about Peter Jackson 'losing ' money etc, and poor business decisions etc, I just had a look he is 56 years old and worth 600 million......so maybe he "Frankly dosn't give a dam (n) " LOL, sorry, but that was kind of funny... -

In case anyone needs a close up .... I wish I could take credit for these few pics, but I can't, they were taken at the Bomber Command Museum of Canada at Nanton this summer, by my very good friend John Stemple, who, came all the way from Florida to see this conversion and dedication to the Canadian crews of 617 Sqdn. Look close, the bomb is spinning.... it was perfectly balanced too, another buddy of mine pulled it with his hand before it was fully operational, and he said it spun for more than 10 minutes...... I think the guys at the BCMC did an awesome job, but no worries, FM159 will be converted back and the Upkeep will be on a separate display, but for now, this is the ONLY ONE in the world converted to a Dambuster..... they even had the under fuselage lights hooked up....... -

I agree and I will most likely be in the same boat, BUT I remember guys saying the same thing about the Mosquito, and I know some guys bought way more than one.... so who really knows, I'm sure that someone at WNW did some sort of market research to see if this was at all viable, taking in consideration about guys like you and me who would love one but maybe just not quite in the budget, and I also agree we sure could use a real good one in 1/48..... too... still though, sure gives one to think about.... and I for one am looking forward to those who can get one and will build it.... JohnB, are you listening?? -

I can see at least ONE Dambuster Lanc kit will probably be built for Museum display.... 'our' Nanton Lancaster converted to Dambuster AJ*M this summer....... the bomb actually was made of heavy steel and rotated perfectly...... cool eh? -

Thanks, AND the modelling community is WORLD wide, I'm quite sure both will sell enough kits to make the venture profitable, I remember a lot of folks saying the Mosquitoes were too pricey, but both sold a LOT of them, and yes even I bought one, the more expensive Tamiya one, and I agree the MKIV is prettier but there was still room for both so it seems. I just don't see the, what appears to be unrest when not long ago a 1/32 Lancaster was only in our wildest dreams , NOW we have TWO to choose from?? The world isn't falling apart after all ! -

I totally agree, look how many Spitfires and Mustangs are out there from different manufacturers, I glanced at TOS and there is a melt down by some folks and I don't get why, there was not this outrage back when the two Mosquitoes were announced, or maybe I missed something...... personally I think it's great, I only wish I had the dosh and a place to put it...... but still who would have ever thought....... bust seriously, I don't see the need to berate Peter Jackson for his efforts..... and the HK kit will be there right along side doing just fine as the Mossie did along side the Tamiya MKVI................... -
1/24 Airfix Scale Mosquito build
Jeff replied to PeteF's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Good old Airfix..... -
I totally agree, when I read that is was an "Ah-HA" ( cue the angels signing) moment for me....
-
Thanks Harv, I probably won't bother, but I sure do like the idea of leaving the buckle on the fret, I think Carl mentioned that a long while ago, on one of his older builds, I tried it and it sure works
-
oh, ok thanks Carl, I was always under the impression that they had to be worked with your fingers etc... to make them look real.... your way makes perfect sense...
-
do you guys crinkle ( that's a technical term by the way ) them up with your fingers, I still can't figure out how to make them look like real ones and get them to lay down like you guys do......
