  1. Thanks pal. Being a noob to this I will need all ideas and knowledge out there. I resisted as long as I could. Lol
  2. Thanks Scott. This is new to me and I know I am WAY late to the party here
  3. Thanks Rob , thats exactly what I was asking. I will use the metalizers in the air brush. It was the Lacquers I was referring to , I should have been more clear in my question Thanks for the excellent info. This is ‘new ‘ ground for an old dog.
  4. Stepping out of my comfort zone of enamel paints and am slowly treading water with Lacquer paints. All new to me. Picked up some gloss black for the metalizers at Doc Rob’s advice and a few others. Can this stuff be brush painted on small parts? So this was at a LHS in Kamloops B. C. Just shy of $90
  5. I feel that pain too….. with two Corvettes in the stables 🤣🤣
  6. yes, AFM< BUT if you don't use it correctly it doesn't work, you still have or should be gentle with the throttle.... also there was no AFM in the big trucks, that was ALL skill and learning to do it correctly....
  7. And folks have the BALLS to call my truck a gas guzzler................ ( a term I abhor ) Carl, I'm sorry the Element isn't a bit more fuel efficient but I totally get why it isn't, don't see many of them around these days, used to be lots around here........ I also get the application of that little unit, you can buzz all over and find easy parking... and zip in and out.... I guess my luck with fuel efficiency, is my years of heavy truckin, we old guys were always taught to find the peak torque, correct gear, and speed ( known as a 'Match Point' )... once you mastered that, then you had to include the load on the truck, and highway conditions, and hills etc..... I was really into it, and still am, so I took it to heart to learn all the details and how to save as much fuel, and be as efficient, with out holding up traffic, keeping a steady foot on the throttle, and knowing exactly when to shift gears and when to back out of the throttle. Because I was well interested in this , my fuel consumption was way down compared to some of the other guys on the job. It was a fun practice, and one I still adhere to today . I let the engine do the work, and tie in the transmission as needed, I also ( even in my Tahoe AND Corvette) ALWAYS shift down to slow, rather than get on the brakes, it is a much smoother transition for slowing and then accelerating . Don't get me wrong, there were days when I had to go real slow up some hills and the same coming down due to heavy loads, but gear selection and peak torque was paramount. I know most can't put this into practice, mostly due to their environment, freeways, city driving etc, but if you get out on the highway, give it a try... you will be surprised....
  8. I don’t have the mileage Carl has but I’m getting good fuel economy
  9. It wud keep us truck guys company……. So yes please…. Jeff
  10. And you can’t go wrong with Leading Edge Decals, Dave does an excellent job on them. They are good to work with, very accurate, detailed stencils, and he stands behind his products. I have every set ever issued. If you decide the kit decals are not up to snuff, Phil, Leading Edge is a top option for replacements. Jeff
  11. Thanks , reading this makes sense and I am very glad of the diversity . I see lots of cool builds, just not a lot of cars and trucks. But a few cool race cars and the odd motorcycle. So I guess a piece of big iron here and there will spice up the cake so to speak. Thanks for your perspective. I like that. Jeff
  12. Thanks , Peter. Thats encouraging. I’m not at all used to ‘showing’ my stuff, probably intimidated by what I see here. As mentioned I was encouraged by Martin and Ron to get it out there so I gave it a go. My personal thing is that I want my work to be somewhat commensurate with the builds I see here, not a garbage build. I, much like you, check most if not all builds for new techniques, materials and websites everyone seems to post. I love that sharing. Thanks for the encouragement and kind words. My hope is not to bore anyone too terribly. Jeff
  13. Dead on! And glad I’m not alone. Lol
  14. Looks spot on to me Ron ! Excellent scratch building skills ! Looks like the real deal
  15. This is coming along briskly, bud. Lookin every bit the part. I can visualize the finished product , keep going. This is good stuff Jeff
  16. Thanks , pal. As you well know still a long way to go. But before my compressor started acting up I did manage to get the60 Series primed
