Tamiya F4U-1 Corsair
beaz replied to Dave J's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
Welcome back Dave, was starting to wonder about you! Sorry to hear about your back, but sounds like congratulations are in order on the new addition to your family!?! Brother, I know exactly how that can affect the time one has to devote to one's hobbies. Love the fit and finish on your Corsair. That faded intermediate blue looks perfect to me, and the oil, exhaust and other stains make it look like it came right off of the island tarmac. Gorgeous build. Gotta get back to mine... -
Great finish!

Revell 1:32 Spitfire Mk IIa Test shot build
beaz replied to afvmodeller's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Inspirational work on the pilot figure, doubt anyone will notice the wonky instrument panel now. Unless Tamiya steps up to the plate, this is looking like our best option for a large-scale, BoB era Spit to go with all of the 109 Es out there. Looking forward to your final assessment of this kit, not to mention the build article itself. -
Someday for sure...

The Walfisch (or "Whale") was just beautifully schlumpy, IMO. And MvR flew several, including this one: How cool is that?

Effing-A, Bubba!

Dying to know what the new kit is going to be. Isn't it tomorrow there by now?

beaz replied to James H's topic in Eindecker GB
Wow...I really love this Eindecker Jim! Love the subtle mottling and subsequent staining that you achieved for the castor oil saturated fabric before applying the national markings. And then to top it all off with what looks to my eye like just the right amount of additional weathering over all of that for the bird that you were recreating is just phenomenal, IMO. Would love to see more photos but will be patient and wait for that issue of Military Illustrated Modeller to arrive in my inbox. Congratulations on the upcoming article and great job on this inspirational build!- 28 replies

Love the look of those wood panels, and that big honking U.III looks ready to go.

WNW Albatros DVa ''Red 3" (Maybe...)
beaz replied to dms340's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Wow...great job so far. I love the color palette you've selected for the interior. It's a handsome scheme for a paradoxically beautiful machine of war. Looking forward to the next update. -
So much for being the only Frisian eye-candy around here...

Thanks guys! Jim, I taped off the wing attachment tabs on mine while painting because I noticed they were a very tight fit straight out of the box. Have test fit everything a couple times since painting and it takes some wiggling and effort to remove the wings now as well. Even with the tight fit, the wings are so long and heavy that they have a tendency to droop. Going to attach mine with tube glue and let the whole thing dry upside down overnight using the box as a jig in the hope that the wings will come out nice and straight. Looking at photos, wings on the real planes could get a bit wonky, but from the factory they were more or less without dihedral or anhedral.
