  1. Hi Paul and Jeroen I used a mix of Gunze and Tamiya to get the PC10 and this dried to a glossy consistency, so I didn't bother putting a gloss coat on (stands back and waits for howls of derision from the crowd). The fin flash went on OK. Yes, I am very impatient, but did leave it over night for the Micro-Sol to work after pricking the bigger bubbles. I shall try again tonight.
  2. Tried applying, using water and hairdryer method and this was the result. Can anyone help me resolve this? I have tried soaking with Micro-Sol to no avail. If it can't be fixed, I may have to sand off and switch schemes. Any advice gratefully received.
  3. Would have liked to, but the extortionate shipping rates to Canada cancel out any potential savings.
  4. I decided to go on the Sunday and it flippin' p*ssed down most of the night before and Sunday morning. The flightline was closed so didn't get to be up close and personal with the performers and the cloud level was too low for some to fly. The 262 developed a fault shortly after take off and had to be brought down sharpish and then towed off the runway. Unfortunately it was stalled just below the flying area which meant that the WW1 planes had to be postponed. Seeing the FW190, Mossie and Lanc in the air, more than made up for it though. I have been to this show every year since coming to Canada and it's excellent, but next year I'm going on the Saturday! The museum is great too and well worth supporting.
  5. I ordered one after reading Doogs review and for my first double action airbrush, am very impressed. Shipping is reasonable too.
  6. Cool. I admire your patience. I would have stuck, grimly, with the first scheme and then moved on. I have that sheet in 1/48 and have always fancied doing red 6. It was nice to see it in the flesh, as it were, albeit briefly.
  7. Hi Ralph. I am loving your work on this and am very impressed by your airbrush work. As someone who is trying to finesse my own skills, I wondered if you could take a moment to explain your own technique here. I'd love to know more about which airbrush, pressure settings, paint to thinner ratios and general methods you use to obtain such fine work. I have some Luftwaffe mottling lined up for the near future and alas, my airbrushing is a bit of a blunt instrument at the moment. I aspire to achieving finishes like yours so any pointers will be gratefully accepted. Cheers, Mike.
  8. Just checked this kit out. I love the look of the 3 gun prototype even though it wasn't too successful. I may just have to get hold of one and join in the fun.
  9. Transformer was a formative album for me
  10. I use it. I find it's easier to use if you cut it lengthways into thin strips.
  11. Are you a professional jewelery maker?
  12. Took a few photos of my workspace while photographing the Bristol Fighter build. Most, if not all of the furniture here has been rescued from peoples garbage and re-purposed. I am a firm believer in recycling and am constantly amazed by what Canadians throw out. My end of the room has my modelling bench (note IKEA cake icing stand used as airbrushing turntable). Even the chair was a garbage find. I also have a music recording setup (for when I have the time, which is never!) and pride of place is given to my vintage Fender Precision Bass, which I have owned for over 30 years now. This is my meagre (by some standards) stash. I don't believe in hoarding kits and usually only buy those I really want to build and the occasional "not to be sniffed at" bargain. My wife is a silversmith by trade but pursued a different career path. Needing a creative outlet and a source of extra money, she has just decided to get back into designing and making silver jewellery. I converted an old oak desk into a jewellery makers bench and she is now firmly ensconsed at the other end of the room and is in the process of designing her first collection. It is nice to share the room with her as we both indulge our creative pursuits.
