  1. LOL Peter. Keeps me from getting bored with life. 😄 I need to have something to do that I enjoy so I devote a lot of time to building.
  2. Sad but true Gaz. I built one of their razorback P-47's a while back and, if I remember correctly, it wasn't all that bad. They wasted a lot of plastic on all that ducting, etc on the interior and I didn't use any of it. One thing they seem to always do is over-do rivet detail. On this P-51 I spread putty and sealer over the wings to tone them down especially since this particular a/c was converted to wet wings for cross country racing and had smooth wing surfaces, etc. I think Tamiya or Hasegawa are missing the boat by not having these two in their 1/32 lineup.
  3. Outstanding Peter! Extremely well done! 🖕
  4. Nice work on a oldie Gaz. No way would I want to embark on such a small model and a bi-plane at that! Way too small for my old eyes. LOL
  5. Thanks Phil. How about another P-51 air racer? https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/15103-another-trumpeter-p-51c-air-racer-wip/
  6. LOL Gaz. It's well along but the fit of the wings to the fuselage is BAD. I've had to do a lot of trimming and shimming to get a proper dihedral. Super glue, putty, and plastic strips are necessary. A bit of a cuss factor I have to say. I think the Trumpeter folks had the "B" team on this area.
  7. Thanks Peter. It does look nice sitting next to the other racers.
  8. Thank you Peter. This one is giving me fits as it doesn't FIT! Wings to fuselage had them drooping so I had to do some surgery on the roots and make some super glue adjustments. Also problems with the exhaust shrouds not sitting "right". I've put it away for today and will get back to it tomorrow.
  9. This should really be a great looking model. I look forward to seeing the end result!
  10. Done with the '26 so now it's back to the Houstonian P-51. This a/c, as on my earlier racer P-51C build, has the dorsal strake. No problemo since I have (had) several I can transplant.
  11. Done with this one. Check here: https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/15149-icm-a-26b-air-racer-finished/
  12. Done with this one. When I first saw a photo of this a/c I knew I wanted to build it. I replaced the kit props (which are WAY inaccurate) with some from a Monogram kit which are accurate. I also used some True Details resin wheels to replace the kit wheels. Painted with Testor's and decaled with Draw Decals. Tinting the inside of the canopy worked out okay as I was a little concerned about that process. LOL Hopefully you guys will like it.
  13. I hope to have the '26 finished today then will get back to this build.
  14. Agreed Peter. I went on and used Scotch tape which I really do not like to use because it can leave behind patches of "stickum" which can make a mess, etc. At any rate, Scotch tape it is. I've applied the flat white base coats and the first coat of gloss white so, hopefully, I'll finish it up today sometime.
  15. I've been waiting for the Eduard canopy masks to show up and they FINALLY did this morning. And they turned out to be for the EARLIER version with a different canopy! All I can use from the set are the parts for the rear canopy. I'll have to use Scotch tape for the pilot's canopy which is what I DIDN'T want to do in the first place! 😠
  16. On hold for the moment while I finish the A-26 racer. Back soon!
  17. Keeping busy Carl. Oil all over probably from running it hard racing would be my estimation. 😉
  18. Since I'm into building air racers right now I decided to build another Trumpeter P-51B air racer. This time it will be "The Houstonian". Not quite as flashy as my others but still a good looking racer.
