  1. Thanks Kai! A little innovation there. LOL I'm not too sure how attaching the wings will go. I've decided to model them folded but looking at the way they are supposed to be attached concerns me. Looks to be a very high cuss-factor operation! I'll paint the model first then tackle the wing attachment. Fingers crossed. 🙄
  2. I replaced the crappy kit exhausts with some pieces of a old window blind! They look just right in my opinion and a darn site better than the kit ones.
  3. Some progress today but I think I see a headache coming on. The way the outer wings attach to the inner stubs looks to be problematic. They are supposed to "clip" together which I'm sure precludes having them spread and look acceptable. I'll have to work with 'em but I figure I will wind up folding them. ðŸĪŠ
  4. I built a Hasegawa 1/72 B-24D using his decals. The Sandman survived the mission. This photo is usually seen printed backwards. This is correct.
  5. Coming along nicely Peter!
  6. Thanks! Now if the decals would just COME ON! 😄
  7. Thanks Kai! I think it looks really nice and I'm glad I got back to the build.
  8. He has really done some extensive research. Interesting presentation.
  9. I usually prefer the spread wings too but I'll make my final decision after doing some test fitting, etc. This kit has a lot of toy-like features which make things more difficult. ðŸĪŠ
  10. Thank you Kai. Still not sure if I will spread the wings but we will see.
  11. All that is Gaz is some green zinc chromate on the inside. It won't be visible when I paint the outside GSB. The cowling is clear plastic.
  12. NOT set in stone Peter. LOL
  13. This is a very interesting 1 & 1/2 hour power point presentation by Dave Klaus on Facebook concerning the above mission. Some "new" information is presented. I found it well worth watching and I think most of you will too. https://www.facebook.com/CommemorativeAF/videos/1169587800282319
  14. Thanks Peter. I'm tentatively planning to spread the wings but we'll see just what sort of headaches are associated with that vs folding 'em.
  15. Making some nice progress on this one now. Mildly surprised!

    Ca glue undo

Get some CA adhesive debonder Mark.
  17. Yes I have Phil. Nice kit and makes a beautiful model.
  18. Yes, it's been a while unfortunately. I've been hoping for some new 1/32 a/c kits from them but, so far, nothing. I think they'd do well with a P-51B/C and a F4U-4 to continue along the lines of their previous releases.
  19. I'm glad you like it Martin Couple more pics then.
  20. LOL Cees. It's true I do enjoy building Tamiya kits, especially their Corsairs. If I DO manage to get this one finished just watch, Tamiya will announce a -4 kit!
  21. If I remember correctly Phil it was pre-Tamiya Corsairs. I also built (and finished!!!) one of their F4U-1D kits which was pre-Tamiya. It turned out pretty well but the wings are really delicate due to the toy-like folding setup. I chose to keep 'em spread. Here's a couple of pics just for grins.
  22. We'll see how it goes Dennis. I'd like to complete it but if it gets to be too big of a PITA it'll go back on the SOD.
  23. Brave or foolish Gaz!!! LOL
