  1. Thank you Mike! I appreciate the nice comment.
  2. Yes, that would be neat. I did one in 1/48 using the old Hawk kit many years ago. Never got any decals for it though since no one made them then.
  3. The two kits still are molded with about the same lines and contours. Otherwise it would really be a PITA! LOL
  4. Test fitting of Tamiya spinner and backing plate with stash prop. Fits okay together (with a little trimming) and with the nose of the kit. Blanking piece in place behind cockpit.
  5. I hope so Peter. Right now I'm test fitting things and cleaning up molding tabs. Looks like the Tamiya spinner with the prop out of my stash of leftovers will work just fine. I've removed the fuselage fuel tank and laid in a blanking piece. Next I'll get started painting the interior light gray and go from there.
  6. It's the one without the dorsal strake but my plan is to graft on a tail from one of my Tamiya builds that I didn't need the section with the strake. Test fitting shows it'll match up fairly well. I also have a couple of resin tails with the strake I can use if needed. I THINK I have all the bits and pieces I'll need, seat, prop, drop tanks, etc, so now I'll get started with the build. Fingers crossed!!!
  7. Here's what I've decided to do Peter. I'll start from scratch using a Revell kit. That way I can go on and build it with more accuracy. I just couldn't bring myself to stay with the Tamiya model with the green cockpit! LOL Fingers crossed all will go well.
  8. Agreed Peter and thank you! I'm still a bit concerned about the green interior of the model and am trying to come to terms with letting it stay that way since the real a/c had a custom gray painted interior. We'll see what I finally decide, etc.
  9. Thanks for the kind comments Peter. Very much appreciated.
  10. I had this P-51 partially built so I'm going to use it for the racer. The interior isn't the correct color but I'm not going to try to change that. It'll just have to do as is! LOL
  11. I very much appreciate that Gaz! Thank you!
  12. Thanks Kai! I need to do something a bit different right now and this fills that bill nicely.
  13. For something a bit out of the usual I plan to get started on this a/c. I have all the needed parts from my "leftovers" stash plus a Tamiya P-51 I had started a while back but put aside for "later". I guess now is later! LOL I saw one done a while back and it looked really good and that inspired me to do this one. Stay tuned!!!
  14. Thanks Peter.
  15. All done. Check completed work.
  16. Finished with this one I'm pleased to say. I did have some high cuss-factor moments especially the landing gear. I replaced the poor kit seat and control stick with items from my stash. Painted with Model Master Navy Blue Gray, White Ensign Lt. Gull Gray, and Colourcoats Bronze Green. Decals are from Wolfpack Designs and depict a a/c flown by Marion Carl on Guadalcanal. The finished model does have a couple of shortcomings but that's just the way it is. Still, I hope you guys like the results of my efforts. 17. What a fun deal Peter! NOT!!! I hope all goes well and y'all are happy with the results.
  18. Thanks Kai! I'll have it finished in a day or two since the decals I was waiting for have arrived.
  19. COMMENT
  20. Thanks Dennis. I agree. The markings should really bring it to life.
