Tamiya F4U-1 finished
JohnB replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
Thanks Martin. -
As most of you already know I really like Corsairs and Tamiya, in my humble opinion, has released the best kits of the Corsair I think we'll ever see. So here is my 10th build. Mostly OOB except for Barracudacast wheels, cockpit decals, and FineMolds seat belts. Painted with Colourcoats and oversprayed with Alclad clear flat. Decals are a mix of kit decals, Barracudacals and Eagle Edition Decals. I hope you will like the results of my efforts.

OS2U Kingfisher by Kitty Hawk
JohnB replied to BlrwestSiR's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
I had a lot of problems getting the engine to mount right. The provided mounts/braces threw off the cowling fit. My solution was to toss the supplied braces/mounts and do this. Far less of a hassle.- 89 replies

OS2U Kingfisher by Kitty Hawk

It certainly isn't a "shake and bake" kit but with patience it can be a really nice model. I enjoyed building mine but it did have it's "moments"!- 89 replies

Thanks Peter. I've started decaling and a little weathering so it's coming right along.

The belts are by FineMolds Mike.

Thanks Carl. It's nice that Tamiya gives us the choice.

Glad to see there will be a third. They are like potato chips. You can't eat/build just one! LOL

Thanks Peter. The big plus for having the wings folded is it saves display space. I folded the wings on 3 of my previous builds but decided not to on this one as you rarely saw the ground based a/c with their wings folded.

Thanks Martin. It's coming right along.

Tamiya F4U-1D Corsair: Update: 2/1019
JohnB replied to Peterpools's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Looking mighty good Peter. The overall GSB really shows off the Corsair's lines. -
Thanks Peter. Agreed!

Thanks Frank. Corsairs rule! LOL

Thanks Anthony. Maybe at some point.

Thank you Mike. The -1 and the -1D are both favorites of mine.

Thanks Gaz. Something like 2000 I think.
