Well, I got a new hobby room. We were going to be in the new diggs temporarily, but we may stay here for the time being. it is quite a bit more spacious than our old place, so that's a bonus, but I still have WAY too much plastic for just one dude. May cull the stash a tad more perhaps. not made a decision yet. Anyways=y, when I'm all set up I'll share a picture or 2! Cheers all!

Merry Christmas and congrats to all! Next year will be better for sure! Harald

Could do a Gannett. not single engine but single shaft... Doesn't exist in 32nd though H.

I'll leave myself out for this year, simply because I'm in the middle of a move requireing every single penny and sense I have... (who are dumb enough to start a new job in January, in Manitoba...) Anyway, Ernie, you're a champ, and so is everyone else! I'll rejoin next year! Harald

I just got a new job... So I'll be packing the bench again (feck, it may stay packed for a bit, we may be able to buy a house in the not too distant future!) But it's exiting!

Hataka lacquers + Mr. Leveling Thinner?
Winnie replied to Lusitanian's topic in Modelling Discussion
I have used it with success! H. -
Good to see you back! I am a member of a local of IPMS in Canada that does weekly "grey-butt" zoom calls. If anyone had zoom, perhaps that would be a viable thing, like a weekly bullshit session, with a computer on in the corner with the camera and mic on to talk shit back and forth? I really enjoy those, and it allows discussion of good and bad parts whilst relaxing with a bevvie and some friendly banter. Works well long distance too! Cheers Harald

I got a bottle of Abteilung liquid mask. It's amazing, but I store the bottle upside down to prevent it from setting up... it's great stuff. Got it from Andy's HHQ

Is there a decent 1/72 B-52 G/H kit out there?
Winnie replied to CANicoll's topic in Modelling Discussion
There is a nice build online of the Model collection B-52G, it turns into a decent kit if you're not too picky on specifics. I've started one as well, but got bogged down in weapons selections... -
Just an image of what came home with me!

Oh… Vacation visit to the Aviation Museum of Atlantic Canada. AH-64D from Takom, and A-1J from Trumpeter… and a couple 48ths… lots.

If that's the Missourah I have the 1/200, with full Pontos treatment...

I was going to, but the wife found a smoking deal to go see the east coast of Canada, which completes my "bingo card" of seeing all 10 provinces and 3 territories! I'm sure there is a hobbyshop in or near Halifax too...

Couldn't rotate the image so you guys get a kink in the neck! Got the Pontos USS Missouri 1945 set, and a couple pieces Eduard, because I started the Eduard route only to find it blocked by age (unavailable). Has blue decks, so got that going for me!

Hmmm Dspiae Angle cutting station... I must have this, and the pen...

Magic Factory F4U-1A finished
Winnie replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/48 Aircraft Ready for Inspection
Another one smashed out of the park! Amazing job there! How does the kit stack up with the Tamiya 48th F4U? Cheers Harald -
As an aside, if it's an F-104 it's a G, if it's a CF-104 it has no G... The only one with nomenclature behind is the CF-104D which in USAF nomenclature was a TF-104.. go figure. also the G sort of implies that there was an A through F, I know of the A, B and C, then G and TF... Lockheed and USAF sure didn't make it easy. Anyway, also note, if you're making a CF, file off the bump in front of the windshield, the CF's didn't have them...

That's a fantastic picture! Thanks! Now I just need one of the starboard side, and one above!

I go to Dick Blick's whenever I'm in Minnesota, they have the Iwata (or Medeo) airbrush cleaner. works a charm on Vallejo, Mig, and AK Acrylic paints so far. no probs. Also not too pricy. cheers! Edited to add link: https://www.dickblick.com/products/iwata-medea-airbrush-cleaner/

I'll probably end up starting it, but I need some space for the hull... Also I'm going to go against convention, and paint her in measure 32 as when commissioned, as opposed to ms22 when surrender was signed. just to be different

It just happened so quickly! I stumbled into the store and rolled out and there it was under my arm... lol I watched the youtube series from the "midwest model shop" about the USS Enterprose (the CV-6), and wanted that, but the Pontos was wildly expensive... so I looked at another video, and decided I need a "dreadnaught" in my collection. Tge kit gets mostly good reviews, and the PE looks to be fairly ok-ish. Lots of fiddly bits, but also lots of visual pleasure! I was just going to get a few Eduard sets for it, but they're hard to come by so I'm going to do the Pontos for this one. Cheers!

accidentally picked up a USS Missouri in 1/200... now I NEED the Pontos aftermarket for it... wife is starting to wonder, but she did just spend a bunch on her hobby, so I "deserve" some love too... lol

Glad you're safe Ernie, all the material stuff can be fixed, is the lives that can't be mended. Closest I ever was to a big tornado (was declared F4/5) was when it struck in Manitoba, it ran from Lake Winnipeg to the Ontario border just north of Lac Du Bonnet. I had to fly MB hydro the day after, and there were lattice mast towers twisted into the ground like busted beercans... round bales moved over several fields still intact, and a trailer moved from one side of the airfield to the other with almost zero damage to the building... crazy. Tornadoes are scary!

That new AK Metallic wax paint looks to work nice, and stretches far too. I've seen the brass one used on ship models lately and it turns out very nice. Come in a tube similar to oil paints.
