ZM Bf-109G-6 Yellow 13 JG 300
Peterpools replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Hi John Great choice and I can't believe I took out my 109 kit last night and started working on the engine as I'm waiting for the two additional clear coats to fully dry on the Spitfire. Going to be fun build our 109's side by side and no question you will have yours done way before mine. -

Chris It's always the unexpected that throws a big monkey wrench into the mix. Just glad you took your time and worked through what seemed like a toolchest of them. . -
My Hurricane has been shipped and on it's way. Should be here this coming week. Purchased from HobbyNut a LSM sponsor.

Carl Some pretty neat work - makes for a great collection in the display cabinet.

Rob Excellent decision to go slowly and build up the weathering layers slowly, leaving time in between each weathering session to judge how the effects settle in as they completely dry. less is always more. I'm right with you on the 'hit and miss' percentage with the new Eduard decals and think hard before using them and for the most part, shy away from them for the major markings so far. Enough can go wrong and adding in another variable is a bit too risky most of the times for me.

Rob Your paint work and weathering is looking so good, blending all the previous steps together. Here is where all the intense detail and PE is paying off in big dividends. I've tested Eduards new decals a while back and for the most part, the results were good but, in a few instances, the actual decal lifted with the clear film. I'm still not sold on the system 100% but I'm going tinkering and trying.

Kev Right with Carl, can't wait for the Big Event and the Seaview Diorama crossing the line. -
Gaz Nice work on the inflated rubber rafts - they do look mighty good.

Clear the Bench! It's Kotare Spitfire time!
Peterpools replied to GazzaS's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Ernie I do agree and what seems to be happening is the vendors available inventory running low with a large number of sets "out of Stock" and new inventory might not be coming. I've been waiting a long time for the Lancaster set to arrive and it is nowhere to be found on our side of the pond. I did check Hannants and they had some stock in the Boarder model and it is sold out. -

Gaz Some nice work on the front office details and it sure looks as all everyone has talked about for so many months is on the mark - the kit details look amazing. -

Chris The Star and Bars masking looks mighty good and the blue, well I've had decals that were even lighter ... tropical fading and with a few tones of blue 'faded in' ... they will look fine. OMG, the blister and canopy masking came out great - the glass is crystal clear. You're absolutely in the home stretch and your GB is getting so close to crossing the line. -

Hubert, all we can do is wait and see what happens. I'm still waiting for the Lancaster set which is long overdue and will not buy it except from my usual vendors here in the states and it just might not be coming at all. -

Hubert If that is the case and it very well might, be. nothing will be coming from Quinta or Zvezda and other Russian companies. -

Gaz I'm still on the fence about this issue as well and there are other model companies whose kits are sold by all the major online vendors such as Zvezda being as an example. Seeing how SB has so much of Quinta's inventory now as out of stock, maybe they are no longer shipping to the states or to the western countries or the vendors are not purchasing from them - I have no idea. The Lancaster set which is available direct, which I will not do, hasn't reached any of the normal vendors. It's a tough call for sure. -

Thanks PW - absolutely correct an the amazing thing was the Revell decals finally did conform with a lot of Micro Sol and TLC, I just couldn't get the EagleCal roundels to work just in this one application. -

Thank You Martin for the very kind words. I like to build and finish my models as I enjoy looking at them in the displaycase; my mini museum of flight. I might try doing some weathering down the line but that would also mean doing at least a small vignette for time and place as well.
