1/48 Monogram B-58 Hustler - SEA
Peterpools replied to CANicoll's topic in LSM 1/48 Work in Progress
Chris Fingers crossed for your procedure on Tuesday. Diane and I are hanging in there and doing all we can - just part I guess of getting older. Thanks for clearing up my confusion on the B-58 underside color. -
John Looking forward to the finished photographs. I'm pretty pumped up as well about the Sandbox BD and there is no way I'll have the Viper finished when it starts. Most likely, I'll take a break from the Viper and build my two GB entries and then back to the Viper.

1/48 Monogram B-58 Hustler - SEA

Chris First off, concerned about your health issues and undergoing an outpatient procedure on Tuesday. Please keep us informed as to how you made out. The B-58 is looking mighty good and the cammo looks just the part. Just a bit confused as to the undersurfaces - which is the final finish: all black or the photo above it with the brown and blue over the black? -
Dave Fron nose gear bay looks fantastic, as the kits detail is amazing. Yup, right with you about removing all the molded on front office details as I've been a huge Quinta Detail Set user since they started (need to give Red Fox a try). Well worth all the extra work as 3D printed details are amazing.

John You're flying through the 110, - the cammo looks absolutely perfect.

Carl Nice progress on the Ford and nothing like working with loads of small parts - but in my case the joy seems to end when I start feeding the carpet monster. -

Gus Nice change of pace and looks pretty neat. -
Agreed for sure. Hoping the new tamiya enamels will be here soon and the results equal to Xtracolor.
-
Paul Glad Takom was at least trying to give their customer value for the money. Always nice to get two kits for hopefully close to the price of one.
-
Carl Nothing like a local brew. Pretty neat for sure.

Thanks Paul, as I have three kits I want to build for the GB, with two now in the stash. Still waiting for the SP Mystere to be released. Box description is a bit confusing: a choice of two versions can be built: single or two seater but only one kit can be built. Originally, I thought it was two full kits in the box like Eduard, Arma and Magic Factory combo kits are but not with the Kinetic release.

Just arrived. One of my entries for the upcoming Sandbox GB Eduard PE set for the AH-1Z Viper underway. Mask set for a Tamiya F-16C Viper underway AB Cleaning brushes. They fit my H&S and Iwata air brushes and are of good quality at a reasonable price. Quickboost Ejection seat seat for the Nesher if needed Finally, the Quinta Detail Set for my GWH A-10C, which now can be resumed when building time allows.

Academy 1/35 AH-1Z Viper
Peterpools replied to Peterpools's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Carl Been spending a few hours as time allows on the Viper and decided to re-do the dry brushing a third time and hopefully it will look a lot better in the next update photos. WOW, the Red Fox belts look great and seem to be a bit thicker then the Quinta ones, with just the right feel to them. And of course your front office looks awesome. When I ran into the Quinta seat belt breaking issues with their seatbelts and harness, on my Spitfire I just finished, I repaired the break with a small pieces of Tamiya tape and then painted the patch - looked fine and no issues. Just feel the Quinta belts are too thin in appearance and just have don't have the right look and feel. -

John, absolutely. Glad you added what I left out, prevention for further mishaps and disaster. I'm using your collar method and it is working, preventing a near spill already. -

Kev Glad the primer did its job and you were able to fix all those little misses we all seem to find. Primer looks perfect and looking forward to the 'enamel' color cotes. -
Dave Nice start of the ejection seats and pilots. looking forward on how you treat and paint the crew as it's something I need to learn how to do.

Mark Some mighty nice progress and the weathering: WOW -beautifully realistic.

Academy 1/35 AH-1Z Viper
Peterpools replied to Peterpools's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Thanks Huber, much appreciated. I know the old-style seatbelts are too thick in scale and we all have become so use to the look. For scale effect, maybe Quita should go halfway in between scale and looks as it just seems they get a bit lost on the seats. -
Academy 1/35 AH-1Z Viper
Peterpools replied to Peterpools's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Thanks Chris so much. The lacquer thinner was a near disaster as it started not only to attack some of the painted parts but I chose to use the clear plastic sensor ball that was already masked and painted and the lacquer then was also on it as well. I haven't removed the masks and will have my fingers crossed until the end when the masks are removed. When the lacquer thinner spiller and attacked the kit, I cleaned it up and then decided to shelve the kit as it was a disaster. I emailed John and told him what had happened. We exchanged a few emails and I started to calm down over an hour or so. John's advice was spot on the money and was to take a good few days break or more if needed, re-goup the troops and when I had a clear head go back to the Viper and pick up where I left off with a fresh and positive attitude. Just talking things out with John was a huge help and when I felt ready, I approached the Viper with a positive attitude and after a lot of additional cleanup work, sanding and polishing work, all seemed well. Holy smokes, your 'Thinner disaster' could have been a lot worse, being a health issue - hope you're alright. We just need to be a lot more careful and all this is another reason to think about shooting safer water-based acrylics. I've been using Quinta Detail sets since they first came out and love them. I've had the same issues with the seatbelts and harnesses as most but their solution to a paper type replacement for them, just doesn't work for me - way to thin. My hope would be, they will use a thicker 'paper' material for the belts and seat cushions in newer releases.
