  1. Chris Amazing work. The F4 is a Big Guy and of course a huge kit in both size and complexity. Don't worry about the deadline, as for starters, you had a late start and it's a kit with a load of issues you had to correct and fix. There were a few times on my Tomcat build I felt like not adding all the stencil data but after a night or two of taking a good break, I went back to it with new vigor, went to town and was so glad I actually added them all. I knew down the road; it would always have bothered me if I left some off because they beat me in the end. if I missed some, that was by accident, but I tried to add all I had. Don't worry about the deadline, the GB is over, the important point is to finish, following your plan from day one as the F4 will be on display in your home for many years to come. Besides, there is a good feeling you get, knowing you won the battle of the stencil data and the build itself. Keep going!
  2. Carl, amazing work. The kits detail is incredible, and your 'perfect weathering' touch adds so much to the kits' look and feel.
  3. Dave brilliant detail work - looking so good.
  4. Paul Nice start on the Mk. IV, as Tamiya and quality go hand and hand. I'm sure you are going to enjoy your latest project. Is the kit motorized?
  5. Carl Loads of repetitious work and they are looking mighty good. When I first looked at the photography, I couldn't imagine how all the road wheels belonged or went with the Sea Fury; a senior moment for sure. .
  6. Martin Happy Birthday, 50 years young. Enjoy your Special Day as there are so many more BD's in the future to enjoy. 🍷 Sure wish I was looking at my 50's again, as I'm looking at 77 square in the eye. ;
  7. Hi Mike, thank you so much for the "wow" on the front office. Almost all the credit goes to both Tamiya and Quinta as I just spent a lot of time brush painting the details. As always, working on a Tamiya kit for me is just a joy.
  8. Thanks, Rob for the positive comments on my progress. So far, the build has been a pleasure and absolutely motivating to keep me at the bench.
  9. John As always, ,y money is riding on you đź‘Ť
  10. John Nice choice for your next build. I've had my eye on the Eduard kit for some time and your build just might help me finally decide. Alway amazed at how you can print out your own decals. I've tried once and failed miserably.
  11. Chris Looking mighty good and the stencil work could drive a man insane! Reskit AN/ALQ-87 ECM pod is awesome looking and some terrific customer service on getting you out the missing decals. Just checked the dates for the GB and it ended yesterday. But I would hope Martin could give you and Carl and extension considering the amount of work you both are doing.
  12. Carl WOW, great detail with adding a 'real' MLG retraction spring ... looks mighty good.
  13. Thanks Scott ... Same here with Quinta. What I have been trying to do this past year is buy the sets I 'might' want/need for projects down the road as it always seems if I wait until I start a kit or even buy the kit, the Quinta set is sold out and restock takes forever.
  14. Thanks John, nothing like a Tamiya cockpit to work on and enjoy.
  15. Thanks, Carl - very much appreciated and it feels good to be working again in 32nd scale and always now looking forward to working at the bench, something that has been missing for a long time.
  16. Thanks, martin, so very much appreciated. making progress nice progress and absolutely enjoying the Tamiya Classic Spitfire. Just hard to believe the kit was first released in 2009, time has surely flown by. This is the fourth Tamiya Spit I've built and feel a good few more to come down the road.
  17. Thanks, Kev, so very much appreciated. Felt mighty good working in 32nd scale again and being able to actually see the details. All of the placards are from the Quinta set and took a good many hours to add, including prepping the Tamiya parts - well worth the time and careful work. I always use Micro Krystal Kleer to glue the details in place and when I reached for one of the four bottles I've had in the glue draw for years, I discovered they were all dried up and binned. From now on, I'll only order one bottle at a time, as it takes me a year or so to use it up.
  18. John Awesome - redo paint and decal work are flawless. Love the color scheme - one of my favorites. 🏆
  19. FINALLY, BACK TO 32ND SCALE TAMIYA SPITFIRE Mk IXc My GWH A-10C build is on hold as I decided wait not only for the Quinta cockpit set to be released but also a few bottles of needed MRP paints. The Tamiya Spitfire Mk IXc in the stash kept calling my name and I knew it was time to finally return to 32nd scale for a good portion of my planned builds, other then jets, which are too large for my display cabinet. My intensions for the build are my normal practice of mostly an OOB build with the exception of adding a Quinta Cockpit Set and a few other pieces of AM: Barracuda’s cockpit door with crowbar, replacing the kit rubber tires and wheels and a set of Eaglecal decals. I’ve been as eager as ever to hit the bench since starting the Spit and a few nights have already worked until the wee hours of the morning. Following the instruction sequence, construction started with the front office and I constantly kept referring to the Quinta instructions, making sure the needed Tamiya parts were prepared for the Quinta details. Interior paints: MRP-LPG Gray Primer MRP -111 WWII RAF Interior Grey Green The front office was lightly weathered using Tamiya Dark Brown and Black PLW’s and some dry brushing. The seatbelts and Sutton harness I’m still working on are from the Quinta set, that needed to slightly modified, as they tend to snap if bent or folded. Still working on the front office – just taking my time and enjoying the journey.
  20. Chris Amazing progress on those stencils and you blew right past me on how many I used on my Tamiya Tomcat build. Looking mighty good for sure and I didn't see the scratch on the glass either.
  21. Carl, you surely almost got me but then I remembered your B-24 build and all the fuselage fit issues you had and resolved. That's some pile of leftover bits and parts for future projects. !
  22. Rob Nice to see the McLaren back and underway. Sometimes the compromises made are the only way to keep moving forward and cross the finish line.
  23. Nice progress John. Sure, looks like by tomorrow you T-28 will cross the finish line.
  24. John Looking mighty good and I just love the new paint scheme. Surely, your T-28 is going to be a beauty, as it is one of my two favorite schemes - the other is all yellow trainer scheme.
