2nd 1/48 P-47 from Burma Banshees RFI
Peterpools replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/48 Aircraft Ready for Inspection
John Another outstanding Jug build and your NMF simply flawless. The two images with both Jugs together are classics and they do make a perfect pair. 🏆 -
Thanks Rob, much appreciated. I've also been eying that kit as well as their dual boxing set for the P-51B Overlord set. The Royal boxing seems to be a better option as it comes with the SPace IP set, resin, foam masking for the gear bays and the medallion - all of which the dual boxing doesn't include. I used the PE set (included in both kits) for the IP and detailing and it just isn't in the league of 3D resin sets.

Kitty Hawk T-28 experts needed. Interior differences B/D vs. C

Scott Glad Carl was able to help out and the Eduard detail set is on its way. I'm also waiting for a few Quinta 1/48 scale sets to be released for newer/new kits: Eduard P-51B/C, GWH A-10C, IMC and the B-26B Marauder that are in the stash. -
Hubert Thank you for all the additional information on the Cutlass and the additional reasons why the aircraft never lived up to its promise. You are so right in the technologies of the day just weren't up to supporting the aircraft, especially the engines. Pushing the envelope is hard and new technologies, aircraft and engines need time and money to succeed and even then some just don't cut the mustard.

Chris Looking mighty good and completely agree that Gary's resin is excellent and so very well detailed. Painting the chrome intake leading edges now surely helps remove a lot of the frustration when compared to masking and painting them after they are on the big F4, not to mention, they do look mighty good. Right with Carl in that the burner cans are looking good and the shading adds a lot to the tail - just wait until the clears are added - it moves the tail to a whole new level. Carl hit it right on the head with the reinforcement plates - I would leave them since they are already molded on and do look good.

Paul I started with their circle cutter as well and was just so impressed with their quality and performance. Slowly, I'm adding to my collection of quality tools and Dspiae is at the top of my list.
-
Looking forward to both your Spitfire and Kate builds - going to be a pleasure to hop on board and follow your progress.
-
Paul WOW, that's a terrific assortment of Dspiae very high quality tools. Over the past month, I'm pretty sure you have purchased virtually their entire line and no question they will open up new and more efficient ways of modeling. I have some of their tools and the quality is amazing. Enjoy

Paul Absolutely will be doing a build thread on the GWH A-10C as soon as the Quinta cockpit set is released.

Just arrived this morning and from all the reviews, this is THE A-10C. I have the HB 1/48 A-10A in the stash and plan on building both this year. As a Long Island Boy, anything Republic and Grumman's are near and dear. I've already ordered an incredible 3D printed Aces II ejection seat and of course, I'll have to wait for the Quinta cockpit set to be released. The kit front office does look incredible as is, so it's a tossup of what to do.

THE FRONT OFFICE The more time I spent working on the front office and marveled at the details, I am constantly being reminded of all the Tamiya 32nd scale Mustangs I’ve built – Eduard's detail and molding is that good for 48th scale. Molded parts are crisp and detailed, enhanced with an excellent painted cockpit PE set. No resin is included and that’s fine. I did add some Quinta details to the office from my spares box including the seatbelts and harnesses as I wasn’t crazy about the PE ones. With PE, I prefer to glue them in place prior to painting and then would need to struggle to hand paint them. I just replaced them with Quinta’s offering. I used a host of paints for the front office, both airbrushed and brush painted: MRP, AK Real Colors, Model Air, Tamiya Acrylics, Ammo by Mig and AK Metallics, all were applied over a base MRP Black Primer. Loads of dry brushing to bring out the incredible details with Tamiya Sky and Medium Gray. To help with the blacks, both the fuel tank and office floor were painted with Tamiya Rubber Black as these parts were part rubber to start with. The IP and rudder pedal assemblies are finished as well but are to be added much later in the build. Even though all my other Eduard Mustangs have PE frets included with the kits, I’ll be adding the appropriate Quinta sets as well.
