John Amazing progress as always. Looking forward to seeing the P-39 work her way through the painting and decaling stages of the build. -
Brad, right with Martin, terrific build. π

AEG G.IV - Creature of the Night - WNW 1/32
Peterpools replied to DocRob's topic in The Great Twins Broup Bluild
Rob Sorry to read about your back spasms and the past week, I've had the same - it's been years since I had these spasms but for whatever the reason, they just started again. Holy smokes, props look great and just love the effects from the AK weathering pencils. Comparing both props, I prefer the second one with the darker contrast and the AB clear red finish, as the laminations and grain show through for a more dramatic effect. π -
READY FOR PRIMING Slow but steady progress with the following work completed: Assembled and glued up the fuselage with the lost panel lines restored. Wings were built up, needing a bit of tweaking to fit tightly up against the fuselage (most likely my doing). Wheel wells were painted MRP Yellow Zinc Chromate. The horizontal stabilizers were glued in place with only a quick swipe of Mr Surfacer needed. The Big P&W R2800 radial, nicely detailed for a 48th scale kit engine was assembled, painted and lastly both Tamiya Black and Dark Brown Panel Line Washes were used to bring out the details. The inside of the cowl and the air splitter plates were painted Alclad aluminum and not gray as per the instructions, as research showed. Last to be tackled was the front windscreen, canopy and glass armor plate with the addition of an Eduard mask set. Flaps are just being test fit. A lot of bench hours were devoted working towards priming and now itβs priming time, with MRP Gray Primer.

1:32 HK Models A-20G Havoc Lightning deal! $160

Thank goodness I have no room to put the model when built and my biggest reason for not buying the kit. Space these days is a big concern on my modeling. -
What is on your bench right now ? Share a picture :)

Chris Yikes, close to a record for sure. Seems to be two types of builders on the forum: Those with neat clean benches throughout a build Those with just the opposite. We should have a forum pole as to who falls into which group. -

Ralph Hate to admit, but I never used it, just set in my ways at this stage of the game. -

Not sure but it was a style of a suit men wore in the 30's (?). -

John Great follow up build to your P-40. Looking forward to following and if I remember, all your SH P-39 builds start off by correcting the too short fuselage. Nice choice markings for sure. -
Gus, right with Carl.

Thanks, Rob for the pricing and shipping information. Something to surely think about if spread out across a number of builds. -
Scott Awesome build and so glad you conquered all the obsticals Revell planted along the way. Brilliant build and finish. π

Scott Add me to the list - awesome build and she looks brilliant. π

Oliver, nothing like using photographs to zero in on the scenery and ground cover.

Rob Quite the experiment and learning experience. The exhaust headers do look really good. Surely seems that when getting into kits with a lot of white metal and cast parts the magnetic tumbler polisher is the way to go. Just out of curiosity with shipping, it is an expensive piece of equipment.? -
Phil, got ya.

John Even with some of the concessions, being able to create and print your own decals offers so many new and unique possibilities. Wish my limited computer skills would allow me to do it but at this stage of the game, I know what I can and can do on the pc and that's OK.

Phil Nice choice for your second jet and some mighty nice work on the front office - looks good and busy. Yes, your method for doing the belts and harnesses worked exceptional well. One of the biggest differences for me between RedFox and Quinta is Quinta does come with seatbelts. They also make a Light Sets where there are no belts for less, but I always buy the Quinta sets with the seatbelts and have no issues with them and one less AM item to buy.

John Pretty interesting on the unique parameters of the different carrier film. I guess, a lot of thought needs to go into the direction you want to go, so there aren't any surprises when you are ready to decal. Peter

John WOW, your P-40 is a beauty and looks fantastic. Having the ability to make your own markings opens up a whole new world of possibilities.π
