Paul

  6. The Corsair was the first 1/32 scale Tamiya kit I had built (I had built a lot of there 1/48 scale)since then I've built 5 P-51Ds 4 Mk VIII & 4 Mk IX's I've got another P-51K waiting to be built. Love'em all. Paul
  7. I want to start to make my own paint masks since my source is no longer avalable, but the problem I'm having is finding the national insignia's of the countries I've searched the web for for the last week for naught probley because I'm not a good searcher or speller for that matter I sure could use some help here any help!! 8. Ya Rick I talked to Joe a couple of weeks ago his work took him to Africa for a year or so. He promised to let know when he got back. I loved his masks really got me into it now I don't like using decals, only when I have to. Paul
  9. I use the 1/48 scale for anchor points for long aerials on 1/32 scale. Paul
  10. I buy mine from UMM-USA from #80 on up usually ten ten to a tube for $5.75 good quality made in the U.S.A. http://umm-usa.com/ Paul
  11. I use Lacquer thinner to thin Tamiya acrylics as well Model Masters and other acrylics, or alcohol 91%-99% For enamels I just use Lacquer thinner. buy it by the gallon. Paul
  12. Ralph I got your PM and Address I'll get them in the mail in the morning you should get it in a couple of days I think the .006 is a little out of scale for 1/32 but I have used it for 1/24 scale I'll also send you a few little extras tidbits I scored tiny white and black beads that can be used for insulators I have used Elmer's White glue and Super glue for insulators also for a lone time. Paul
  13. Ralph the .005 looks real close to 1/32 scale, BUT the most important reason that I use the elastic line is because accidents do happen and aerial wires do get broken and at the most appropriate times since I've been using this material I have saved myself a lot of grief repairing said wires. Granted it's not for everybody but I like and I'll use it. Ralph PM me A Address and I'll send you a spool of EZ-Line the I won't be using, or if you don't want it who ever does PM me their address and I'll send it to them got two sizes both .003 & .006 After Ralph first come first serve (OH YA NO CHARGE) Paul
  14. I got one of these because it beats the hell out of the the kits struts Paul
  15. I got my order am quite please with it altho not much different from EZ-line it is easier to work with because it doesn't bunch up in little curls The Standard size is good for 1/32 aerial wires which .005 wear-as the fine would be good for 1/48 .003 don't know if that's metric or INCH. Paul
  16. I found this by accident the other dayUschi van der Rosten Fine Rigging and ordered a spool of it, I got mine from http://shop.lastcavalry.com/ it comes in three different sizes Standard, Fine. and Super fine http://www.spruebrothers.com/ Also carries it. Should get by Thursday let youse all know what I think of it. Paul
  17. I just read in one of the Modelers mags that somebody just brought out some new elastic rigging suppose to be somewhere in between EZ-line .03mm and .06mm but I'll be be damned if I can remember which mag it was in, by any chance did anyone one else happen to read the same review as I did, If so would that someone also happen to remember WHO it is that's bringing it out I HOPE Paul
  18. What do I use to thin Mr Surfacer so I can use it in an air brush. Paul
  19. Mike you could also use the springs from K-dee couplers for for HO & N gage model railroad train car couplers, Walters carries them Paul
  20. Danny you really gotta try the G-Factor landing gear for the Tamiya 51 as far as that goes their spits also I got turned on to G-Factor after the last P-51D I had just finished and promptly dropped it and broke the left gear strut. replaced them with (you guessed it) G-FACTOR you won't regret it Palu
  21. I'm 71 my eye sight is shot after welding for over fifty years, I was forced to retire from FOMOCO because of health reasons, my Wife talked me into getting back into modeling after 30 years and some others I resisted because of my eyesight so I started with 1/24 but soon want went to 1/32 and ran out of kits to built that I could afford to build so I moved to 1/48 Pal there are a lot of magnifying devices that you can get on e-bay or amazon cheap as mentioned before bight lights lots of bright lights is the answer and don't give up shoulda seen my first plane after being out of it for over 30 years. Keep at it Pal Paul
