What a beauty!!! And the perfect solution for painting the spinner. I have such a hard time painting those schemes. I have a circular template but did not have much luck with it. Seeing your work tells me to keep at it. Lovely photography, too! Great work all around and thanks for sharing! Chris

Congrats on the recovery! She looks terrific.

You are definitely working through this one pretty quickly, nice work! Question for you - why the choice to use the Revell Contacta Professional Glue rather than Tamiya Extra Thin? Just curious.

Peter, this looks amazing and so quick!! Great start on the Sea Fury!

Rob, Beautiful work and lovely to have two amazing P-38 builds to enjoy, side by side! The NMF looks terrific and agree with Peter that the Master cannons were a smart addition - they figure so prominently in the nose. Sorry to hear about the spinners. Great job! Chris

Peter, Simply stunning, as everyone else has pointed out. Regardless of Tamiya or not, you still put together a fantastic build - it doesn't just happen! A lovely bird all around and love taking close-up looks at the superchargers and cockpit photos - just beautiful!!

Peter, Really nice work on the decals, and a mystery why the carrier film pulled up like it did. I was not aware of being able to pull the carrier film up at all so that was news to me. I've always done the traditional clear coat over the decals. I do like both the Tamiya and the Eduard decals. How many coats of clear gloss do you put over the decals? Overall, love the look of the P-38 in the OD, and those shark mouths. Beautifully done! Chris

Ahh, ok. So a bug became a feature, only to go back to being a bug. In computer parlance. 🙂 Oh well. So, are you still using the Eduard decals or going with something else?

Carl, It happens to all of us but it does suck to put such nice work into that beautiful cockpit and engine and then have this happen. Sorry to see. But I'm with you! Chris

I will be VERY interested to see how this goes!

Rob, really stunning finish! Love the work on the canopy and everything looks so very clean in the pics. Agree on the need for a absolute shiny and consistent base when doing NMF - you nailed it perfectly! Fantastic mirror image of the canopy in the wing on one of the pictures. That is high reflection! In the end, would you do the rivets again? The look on the P-38 is simply amazing. What polishing do you do on the clear pieces? They also look fantastic. Super job!! Chris

Rob, still looks freaking amazing under the gloss black! I may have to give it a go. Even under Olive Drab. How much of a problem was air under the rivets when you were laying them down, especially over the panel lines? Cheers, Chris
-
Awesome work Rob!! I have the H kit and have been waffling about the rivets. Your work is AMAZING however. Thanks for the details on how you applied them - a huge help to those of us who haven't taken the leap yet. That cockpit is also a work of art. Agree on the seatbelts, but also that the HGW ones are a PITA to put together. Beautiful!! Chris

Hope Harv is healing quickly and on his way back to the bench.

Peter, your paint work as usual is flawless, but I really appreciate the commentary of what you are using and especially the airbrush/pressure details. Thanks!! Like you said, in 1/48, pressure and paint are a big deal. I think you nailed it. The -38 is looking terrific and I hope the decals get sorted. Agree about the Tamiya decals - but I was not aware of the dates so will have to look. I think most of mine are a bit older now - maybe pre-2020. How about these for decals: I have a set of the Pyn-Up decals for the Fork-Tailed Beauties, Part 2. The only thing is that the set for the camo P-38 is an H-1-LO. John Cohn's Hot Box Annie. The other aircraft is Bong's NMF Marge. These are from 2004, but they have been very well stored - I bought them new from Meteor Productions when they were open here locally. Chris

Oh no! Good to see you back home but worried about the episode. Take care of yourself!

Nice looking, Peter. Nice and smooth. I agree about the non-pre-cut masks - I never seem to get them quite right. Eduard is usually the way I end up going, too. Can't wait to see how she looks in her colors. Chris

Ring decals?!? Oh man....
