Right with you on dealing with shaky hands, eye strain and I'm crawling along on the DB 605. On my copy, the ignition leads weren't molded that well and no way could I clean them up - just too delicate. Should have the Spitfire done today plus photos and then I'll be joining you on our ZM 109 builds.

This kit certainly isn't a "shake and bake" build! Be prepared!!!!!

That's very true.

The fit has just enough play that it's easy to slowly build in errors that compound once you reach a critical stage.

100% correct Carl. I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop as they say.

Here are three books that are great references for the '109's. Good for parts placement and colors, etc. The one for the '109G-2 shows slightly different cockpit and engine bay arrangement but is still a good reference for any novice '109 modeler 🙄

John nice progress on the 109's front office- looking so good. Completely agree with you and Carl as there is enough play in some of the part fits to add up to some serious trouble down the line. I've discovered some of the engine piping seems to have a mind of it's own and isn't happy being coaxed into place. Seeing the very light and petite molds lines for us senior modelers is a continuous headache for sure.

Thanks Peter. Mine was that way too and gave me fits. Very glad to be finished with the engine and all it's headaches although I expect it will be a problem later when trying to mate it to the airframe. I darn near decided to set this SOB aside and do something else! 🤪

Got ya and if the kit is becoming a cuss factor maybe give it a rest for a well, jump on something else and come back to it for your next build - seems to always work perfectly for you.

More progress on the cockpit. :) Of course the ammo area won't be visible later on. In my opinion a waste of time and effort to add stuff that could be left out.

Nice work progress on the front office - lots of details and a lot of work. Completely agree about spending a lot of time working on details that will never be seen once a model is finished and closed up. My recently finished P-40 is a great example and most ZM kits follow as well. The Revell Spitfire on the other hand didn't have any hidden details and that was just fine with me.

Cockpit looks great.  I didn't paint the bullets...  or any hidden detail for that matter.

Smart Man Gaz! I keep kicking myself in the rear for painting and adding all the hidden details for nothing more then knowing it's there. After some time in the display case, I'll actually forget the bulk of the hidden details.

Thanks Gaz. I went on and painted them anyway even though it was unnecessary. :)

You're flying now the some mighty nice work on the front office. I'm now working on my ZM 109 full time and you're so right about the BD 605 and all the plumbing.

Thanks John

for pointing out my terrible typing skills when I'm rushing and not proof reading. I did go back and correct my post.  :wallbash:

That fuel line gave me fits trying to paint the fittings on it. You've made it look so easy.

I got lucky and had no problem with it. My magnifier came in very handy! :)
