Brilliant progress - amazing as always and looking so good.

Are you planning on having the engine cowling panels on or off and displaying the Merlin?

Got ya.  I'm pretty sure after my current build, any more Mustang builds for me will be also with the engine cowlings on.

I did one some years back with the cowlings off but I'm too lazy now. 🤪

Painting coming along except I've only got a smidgen of Lt. Gray left. Not enough to finish the model (underside not painted yet). Ordered more from SB but meanwhile I can work on other areas of the model.

I have a tinlet of Compucolor which is the same FS # as the Mr. Color I was using. I'm seriously considering using that to finish painting the model. They seem to match up okay so we will see after I do a test run. Fingers crossed! :)

Update: It matched perfectly so I was able to go on and finish painting the model. :) I had forgotten that Compucolor takes a long time to dry and stays tacky for at least over night. So now I still can't handle the model to do more to it. 🤪

Thank you Peter. In measuring out the placement of the "FAB" decal under the wing I found two of the already in place rocket stubbs were in the way. No way would the decal sit over them so I had to pop them off and re-paint that area. Now I'll again have to wait for the paint to dry before I can proceed with adding that particular decal but I think I can go on and apply some of the decals in other areas. We will see!

Since they give us the decals and tip tanks for a El Salvadore AF a/c I think I'll make use of them and build another model but using a Revell kit. I was told the conversion set was made for the Tamiya kit but I see no reason not to use a Revell kit. We will see if there are any problems. :) (Instead of adding that build on here I'll start another WIP thread.)

Nice progress John. Did you fill the wings in or leave the rivets there?

Thank you Carl. I left it with the rivets showing. Too much work to cover 'em up. I tried it on a earlier build and it just wasn't worth the effort.

A second cavalier - looking forward to that build - going to be a beauty as well.

I've been trying to figure out what will be needed for the tail extension. That's the only "problem" I see to doing another Cavalier '51 so we will see. 🙄
