BlrwestSiR Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 Thanks Peter. They're Japanese AAM-3 missiles actually. Fairly recent design so I thought it more appropriate for the build. I was originally going to use AIM-9X missiles which could explain the mix-up.
BlrwestSiR Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 I applied the decals and gave the missiles a wash with Tamiya Dark Grey. I didn't put all the decals on as each middle as it is has more decals on it than the F-15 itself. 3 1
CANicoll Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 I feel your pain on the stencils!! The missiles look awesome! I will do a gray wash on mine as well... 2 1
Peterpools Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Carl Nice work on the Sidewinders .. looking mighty good. Only a few months back, I spent countless hours on my Tamiya F-14 missiles, adding all the decals and stencils - surely a boat load of work and nowhere nearly as detailed as yours. Scale does make a big difference in both the fidelity and detail. 1 1
BlrwestSiR Posted August 17, 2024 Author Posted August 17, 2024 It's finally finished. I got around to mounting the missiles. They're on a short piece of wire to help keep them in place. I then found the canopy after a bit of searching. I'd misplaced it for safekeeping. With that done, she's all finished. Sorry for the very cluttered background but she's so big I don't have much space to take pics of the model. 7
GusMac Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Looks great Carl. Going to take up a bit of space in the cabinet. I thought the Viggen was big but when I compared them the F15 is still bigger. 2 1
BlrwestSiR Posted August 17, 2024 Author Posted August 17, 2024 Gus, the Eagle is a big bird that's for sure. For now it's sitting on top of one of my shelves in the overflow area. I need to get the new display case built. Sue's on my case about getting it done. 3
Martinnfb Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 Congratulations to such an unique model Carl. Well done. Cheers Martin 2 1
BlrwestSiR Posted August 18, 2024 Author Posted August 18, 2024 Thanks Martin! This was one of those "can I pull it off?" builds for me. I'm very happy with how it turned out. I don't think I've done such a complex scratch/conversion before and for sure not in 1/32. Now to build the display case. Carl 2
Peterpools Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 Carl WOW, what an awesome conversion and she came out looking fantastic. Followed from day one and a pleasure to be onboard for the entire journey.🏆 I'm in the same boat as you, as my display cabinet is full. I'm trying to add two more shelves which will fill up super-fast as a lot of my current finished builds are being stored in large plastic covered bins. I tip my hat to you and Kev who have the skills to build your own display cabinets. 1 1
CANicoll Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 Carl, that is a beauty!! Looks amazing and the sharksmouth is perfect for this aircraft. The cockpit is fantastic. I've done the same thing - put something away for safe keeping, then forget where I put it. At least you found it in time! 2 1
