belugawhaleman Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Some stuff I've been gathering up for an upcoming build And a kit I've been waiting to get for some time.... First, the kit. It's Gecko Models Pz. Kpfw (Sd.Kfz.121) Ausf. A/B/C in 1/16 scale. If I remember, this kit was announced by Gecko about a year ago......then nothing. It eventually became available at some overseas shops with high shipping making it out of reach for me.Then, I saw it on Andy's site at a "reasonable" price....I bought it😀 Next, some items I've been accumulating for My Hobby Boss1/16 panzer 38 (t) build. The kit includes an engine, so I gathered up some wires, tubing, an ignition coil, battery terminal lugs, even a few sets of plastic and resin wing nuts to add detail to the kit. I also found on EBAY a set of resin replacement tires for the Das Werk 1/6 Panzer III These are supposed to fit better than the kit parts that are a very tight fit. Anyway I'm looking forward to the Big Panzer 38 (t) build which I may do a build log. I'm still waiting for some Hiq parts spring lengths in various sizes that will be used as electrical conduits for detailing the engine. These have been hard to find and because of shipping problems have been delayed for weeks. 3
belugawhaleman Posted September 12 Posted September 12 I thought twice about posting this so soon after yesterday's post, but here it is..... While looking for the Fine Molds 1/48 kit of the Ohka..I found this 1/32 version by MikroMir.... It's their Yokosuka MXY7 Ohka in 1/32. I'm not too familiar with this brand, but the kit looks OK.... There is some flash here and there, but overall the parts look OK and I think it will build up nice. Lots of small detail parts, photo-etch, canopy masks, decals are included in the kit. I noticed there are separate control surfaces though I'm not sure how these would be posed for an aircraft on the ground. Anyway, although the subject may be bleak, I thought someone might be interested. As an aside, I noticed that parts for the training version are included in the box.....Although I don't know if a complete trainer could be made from the kit. MikroMir also sells the trainer version. 4
denders Posted September 23 Posted September 23 We were up to PA for a long weekend (wife's 50th high school reunion). And on the way, we stopped in Steven's City, VA at All Nation Hobby and Model Supply. It's a nice shop, wish there was something similar in my area. They had a bunch of kits from someone's collection including quite a few of Tamiya 1/32 kits. I bought this one, but it was a hard to make choice. It would have been nice to have a 3-5K budget. But then that would have been more than I had space for in the vehicle. My wife has commented that perhaps I need a larger vehicle for models. They don't appear to have a web site, so you have to stop in. They're open Tuesday thru Saturday, something like 10AM to 6PM. So, if you're passing by on I81 and the time fits, stop and have a look, support a LHS even if it isn't your LHS. It's guaranteed that I'll stop in the next time we're through there. 3
BlrwestSiR Posted September 23 Posted September 23 I picked up some supplies recently. Bits for the Dspiae rotary tool. Tape dispenser On the model side of things, a couple kits for Christmas. Pacific Rim is most likely our youngest's favourite movie so when Max Factory announce they were going re-pop these kits, I put in a pre-order. Finally, one for me. Turns out I got the limited edition kit that's numbered so now I might have to find a regular one. 4

belugawhaleman Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Been looking for this kit for a long time......happy to see it released again. After reading a review on the Perth Military Modeling (now gone) website in which 3 different manufacturers of the same subject were compared.....this one won out. I never could find this kit..until now😀 It's Amusing hobby's Neubaufahrzeug Panzekampfwagen VI Krupp Gepanzerte Ausfuhrung (35A003) in 1/35. This was Germany's first attempt at a heavy tank. It had 3 turrets. I recently saw one of these in archival footage.....restored my interest. Found it for a good price on Andy's online shop. Although the kit comes with individual link tracks, (said to be Modelkasten) I bought a set of Friulmodel tracks for it. I think the Fruils will be easier to assemble. Last, a set from DEFMODEL, it's their Cupola set for the SOMUA S35/Panzer 739 (f) providing cupolas for both types. Anyway, as usual, I hope someone finds this post useful. 4
BlrwestSiR Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Nice kit there Paul. If it's Modelkasten tracks then definitely the Fruil ones will be easier to assemble. I have some Modelkasten tracks for the Sherman and each link is 10-11 parts depending on the type. Carl 1
BlrwestSiR Posted Thursday at 12:43 AM Posted Thursday at 12:43 AM Working on my ZM FW190, I needed some RLM66 for the cockpit. My go-to is Mr Color 116 for this. So I duly reached for the bottle on my paint rack. Except it looked like this: Empty. Checking the various websites for my local shops, it seemed none had any in stock. Them I checked a Gunpla store and they had some. So I placed an order with them. With the ongoing Canada Post strike , they offered free courier delivery and I got it today. So I'm back in business. 4

I saw that There is a Replenishing agent sold by Mr Hobby . I found that some Of my Mr Color paints I bought for my Egg girl projects looked a little, ..well, .."gummy". I just dumped a little more Leveling thinner in and hoped for the best. Worked OK.....but apparently this is what to use. Of course, it doesn't work if you just plain run out.....but I thought I'd just mention it😀 Glad to hear you found what you needed! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0030599C2?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details 1
BlrwestSiR Posted Thursday at 03:26 PM Posted Thursday at 03:26 PM Paul, the bottle was basically empty which caught me off guard. I have a bottle of Mr Color Replenisher and it's handy to have. I've used regular Mr Color lacquer thinner in the past to "rejuvenate" older bottles of Mr Color. Haven't had any issues doing so. Carl 1
