colt6 Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 @Mike: yea, doing a crash dio is just fun. You have the freedom to do nearly everithing, especially weathering wich I start to love. In this case I have the luck, that I got pictures from all around the plane, or is that bad?!? @Grant: My first water attempt was with the Faller stuff, then I tought I will give Vallejo a try. Main "problem" with both are the shrinking, I had to reapeat the pit 4-5 times. But hey, my experience is so small and for shure I will use the still water on the ground, when I build the base on the Dio and then I can say more. Thanks Arno
Cpt_Farrel Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Sorry for the confusion, I meant that 66 could be the darker upper color instead of 74, not to mix 66 with the 75. When I read my previous post I realise it could be interpreted like that. 1
colt6 Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 Thanks Anders, after reading your post again, it was clear! So it's for shure my english, sometimes i'm a bit slow and confused sorry
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted August 29, 2014 Administrators Posted August 29, 2014 What a cool project and what great modeling. Following this...
youngtiger1 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 No that's good that you got pictures of this very subject in different view. I'm starting to look for similar photos and hopefully I'll get lucky Mike 1
colt6 Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 Start to throw all the bits and parts into the body And try how it would look on the frame. What you think: this frame is not to small? Arno 1
John Irwin Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 You are the best!!! What a craftsman!! Agreed... what a great (and unique) build.
JonathanReed Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Looking Fantastic. Many of you may remember the old diorama of the wrecked B-17 that slid off the side of the runway and lost the gear.? I was little lad and already loved airplanes, but looking at that model and the story, no, stories that it told grabbed me into the great world of modelling! This one should inspire many more people to come. So Cool! 2
RalphSarc Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I agree with Johnathan! Your craftsmanship is inspiring to say the least Arno as it does inspire me to challenge myself with each build! You nailed the prop right down to the boot dents!! By the way how did you do the dents?? 1
Clashcityrocker Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Yeah this is awesome! I'm building a crashed and abandoned 109 myself and would love to know how you got those good dents in the prop. Great work! 1
colt6 Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 Thanks for the nice word's! The dents are just made with a heat gun and a round tool
colt6 Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 As I was never really happy with my bended alu on the frame, I made the panel new. It's not perfect, but I think much better. Final result we will see after a little putty and primer. Arno
colt6 Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 Nice scratch work. Aluminum foil? Yea, the thick one for the ofen.
colt6 Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 Starting with the base.First painted black My dirt mixture from coffee, sand and just dirt. Mixed with water and white glue. Bought also Brickstones in 1/35, just had to try it And the first cote of RLM 75
John Irwin Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Great work. How did you replicate the torn up ailerons?
