Pepper-Mint
Hi, Wanted to share my Avenger's WIP on LSM. I chose this particular subject for a GB entry on another forum. A bit shy with sharing since it's the first airplane build for the last 2 decades... In paralel i reworked and tested some techniques on a 1/48 F4U "mule". Will be finished end of june. Hope you're going to like her. Working on the nose art home-made masks and preparing the bird for the fuselage paintings. Bare metal is main guide line. AM : Eduard's masks RB productions seat-belts The "mule", 1/48 Tamiya F4U. Thanks for checking in. Cheers Laurent.
Administrators James H Posted May 25, 2015 Administrators Share Posted May 25, 2015 Just WOW!!!! This kit has tempted me for a long time, and you're not helping This looks fantastic. What paint are you using, and what weathering stuff?
Pepper-Mint
Thanks Jim ! Yes great kit, just a bit frustrating with all the hidden work once the fuse half closed. Main brand for the paints are tamiya and alcladII for the metal finish. Chipping fluids from AK, weathering oils from AK and water based washes from flory. Pigments from Mig.
towerpower
wow, i'm impressed, if this is your first kit after two decades, you MUST be a master builder, looking very good, and indeed a bit "frustrating" when all those goodies are mostly hidden eventually, but your Avenger is looking tops. J.

Pepper-Mint
Thank you very much for the comments gents, highly appreciated ! Fantastic work, first Aircraft after two decades too, incredible! Really awesome, have this kit in the stash, afore switching to 1/32 I had the AM 1/48 Italeri rebox that was traded on, Love the Avenger and apparently its one of Trumpeters better kits too, will be watching your build with interest. I'm sure I have Eduard's masks for my kit too, an almost mandatory extra with all this kits canopy framing. Thank you Colin ! Kit is indeed from Trumpeter's best batch. Real fun to build, a lot of improvement and presentation possibilities, cut-outs, etc. Eduard masks are definitely a great time saver for the avenger, in particular for the ball turret. wow, i'm impressed, if this is your first kit after two decades, you MUST be a master builder, looking very good, and indeed a bit "frustrating" when all those goodies are mostly hidden eventually, but your Avenger is looking tops. J. Thanks towerpower ! Yes it's my first airplane kit for the last 25(ish) years. Master builder ? Believe me, i'm far from that status. Still so much to learn from our highly skilled fellow modelers ! I have that part built.........yours is totally amazing. Wonderful work. Thank you GUY5Y, looking forward to seeing your updates ! wackyracer
Laurent, love that metal finish. The pre-shading really works in giving it a texture if that makes sense. Hope you don't mind but what shade of Alclad did you use or was it a combo of a few? Aaron
youngtiger1
Wow, great work on the alclad paint wor buddy. I didn't realize pre-shading work with alclad paints as well. I will have to test that myself. Can't wait for your next update Mike
