Count0 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 It's DecaI Tag! Get some stripes and cigarette logo's on this Bitc... Everyone knows real race cars were sponsored by tobacco companies. 4
BlrwestSiR Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Well, my try at carbon decalling got carried away on the BMW. I decalled the frame, then used some Alclad on the engine and swingarm and ended up with all sorts of subassemblies. Which has led to the frame being almost done. 8
DocRob Posted April 18 Posted April 18 That looks super cool Carl. I always found, when I cover the cf-decals with clear semi matte, they even look more realistic. The gloss looks great immediately, but matting down lifts it to another level and unifies the single decals better. Cheers Rob 3 1

I'm going to actually try and finish this before I get ahem, sidetracked/distracted by something new. 4 hours ago, DocRob said: That looks super cool Carl. I thought about a semi-gloss clear for the carbon as well but decided to go with the gloss as it's exposed and the bodywork will be gloss paint as well. 4

BlrwestSiR Posted Thursday at 09:25 PM Posted Thursday at 09:25 PM Trying out a paint experiment. After checking out my son's recent Gundam build where he used Gundam markers for panel lining, I decided to see if makers could be used for pre-shading. So I grabbed an SBY kit out of the stash. I removed the parts from the trees and then went over the panel lines with an AK paint marker. Then when the marker had dried, I sprayed the colour coat which was Mr Color Gundam White. It's a bit washed out in the pics but the contrast is there. I thinned the paint a bit too much so the paint went one really thin. Might need a bit more coverage in a couple spots but I would say it worked. 5 1
BlrwestSiR Posted Friday at 09:26 PM Posted Friday at 09:26 PM I continued on with the paint test and did the red parts. With a coat of red. Then with a bit of assembly. Just 4 parts left. Which oddly for a Bandai kit actually require glue. 7
PanzerWomble Posted Friday at 10:51 PM Posted Friday at 10:51 PM German Unterseedildos ..🤯 'Misguided' gift from a friend .....1/72🤮 .....Nice gesture...... but most people who gift me models from outside of the modelling world have no idea about what I'd like to build . 4 1

PanzerWomble Posted Saturday at 11:30 PM Posted Saturday at 11:30 PM Saturday evening instead of going to the pub ... So - I built the same Aircack model around Xmas 1976..7 ..8 somewhere around then ? I remember being underwhelmed with the 1963 tooling back then , despite being fascinated by Lightnings . Later in 1999 I built Airflups 1/48 Lightning ....aw heck that was a shock ...& built a fair few of them since ! The model is still pants, I bought this a while ago not planning on building it , but was bored tonight and decided to make it into a Xmas tree ornament . Will sneak it on the tree next December , but reckon Mrs Womble will be understanding . We met 40 years ago when she lived down the road from RAF Binbrook, and young PW was in 7th heaven watching the last Lightnings flying overhead in their twilight hours. It's probably the only aircraft she can recognise, having been dragged to Bruntingthorpe fast jet runs and many other museums over the years . All done with car rattle cans , when the paint hardens I'll flat it with some gloss and pack it away . 7

GazzaS Posted Sunday at 08:45 AM Posted Sunday at 08:45 AM heh.... Aircack... I always wanted to do a Lightning... in foil. But probably won't... got too many others to build. 5
FullArmor Posted Sunday at 12:00 PM Posted Sunday at 12:00 PM Lower hull painted and started weathering for BMP-3. 8
BlrwestSiR Posted Sunday at 08:12 PM Posted Sunday at 08:12 PM I did some work on the Wing Gundam today. I painted and assembled the wing units that attach to the back. They're quite sizable They have several moving features built into them as well as making them posable. Clear coat, decals and some weathering and I'll finally have this done. 7
KevinM Posted Monday at 12:37 AM Posted Monday at 12:37 AM Finally have finished the Hawker Hunter the 200 stencils kinda slowed me down like in reverse.I had to mark each one off the sheet as they got laid down took me a week to do.The rockets slowed me down next taping for you can not brush paint white at least not me. and yea the navigation lights are now on but maybe Guy or someone can chime in is that a running light behind the copit and what color red/white? 7
GazzaS Posted Monday at 12:49 AM Posted Monday at 12:49 AM Nice... that is quite a rack of missiles underneath the wing. 4

PanzerWomble Posted Monday at 07:09 AM Posted Monday at 07:09 AM @KevinM Love the Hunter !!! It's a beaut ! I'm no expert but can't see reference to any spine mounted nav lights , maybe an Academy brain fart or based on a later restored example ? Can tell you the big 30mm gun pack bulges were known in the RAF as "Sabrinas" after the risqué actress . Found this pic of 642 at RAF Abingdon in 1968 7

PanzerWomble Posted yesterday at 12:21 AM Posted yesterday at 12:21 AM So mostly built this ICM W124 up to about 90% last year , then couldn't make a base that I was happy with , wasn't over happy with build etc etc .Bought the resin Adolf years ago on a whim , been sat in the stash forever . In the end went for a simple wooden plinth which I'll sand and varnish shortly . FYI I can personaly recommend old red Mercedes Benz cars , mine always goes a little faster going East than West .... "One Careful Owner " maybe ? "Birthday Present" ? 7
