Special torture at the bench. Otherwise known as working tank tracks.

The dark coloured ones are for an LVT-4 Water Buffalo. Talk about a pain to get together.

Which is why I'm doing a bit at a time and then working on the other set of tracks. 

Those are T80 tracks ostensibly for a Sherman HVSS. In this case, I'm using them on a T95 Heavy tank so I have to make 4 runs of 97 tracks each. I've got two runs done already there.

Here’s something a little different I’m working on today.   It’s even model related.

I welded up 6 new shelf frames for the display case.  In the process of painting them right now.  
I mount these and place 3/16 plate glass on them. Each glass is something like 44” X 22”.  This should max out the display case.

Seems to be two types of builders on the forum:

Those with neat clean benches throughout a build

Those with just the opposite.

We should have a forum pole as to who falls into which group.

That is what gets me about my bench.  Normally I have everything pretty well organized.  But having to do so many sub-assemblies has me putting parts everywhere...  Not to mention various groups of paints.

Yea, I started looking at the assembly of the wing and spar of the Cutlass and realized this Hobby Zone assembly jig might be the ticket!  
So I got busy.  It’s only been sitting here 6 months in the box.

Sure come with an ugly sprue.

Almost done.   Did some reading on Cybermodeler.  Gotta glue on tongue depressors or popsicle sticks and wrap rubber bands to hold staggered wing biplanes in place along with the tail holder not being long enough.  I’m short one right now so I’m holding off until I can get matching sticks.

 I picked up this jig when it first came out. I found too big for my bench so I didn't use it much. It definitely works well when needed and is much sturdier than the other ones I have.

Two words of advice Scott:

1) The first critical fit issue in  the kit is the junction of the top and bottom fuses at the rear of the wings

. Besides adding pressure, mine were not great and required a significant amount of filler, and rescribing

2) Second issue is the fit of the front fuselage and intakes. Mine require a 1.5 mm strip each side to ensure a flush fit between the fuse and intakes. And the vanes for the boundary layer exhaust are continuous between the intake wall and the front fuselage ... In theory they are "S" shaped from the face entry to the exit on the top fuselage.

3) Just remember that the "cross" of the engine faces should be vertical. I forgot about it, and although barely visible, I know I got it wrong, and that upsets me no end :brickwall: !

Thanks Hubert!  The first thing I did was work the “clam shell” fuselage before starting to fit the wings.  Took a good bit of shaping.  
But fair warning, now you done done it!  I’m gonna be bugging you for advise along the way!
