That sucks Mark, I went through the same thing in'09. General Motors was going through there, uh, 'correction' and they sent out a head hunter to my place to make our lives miserable by deliberately pushing all our button and force us to quit. I was literally thinking it would be worth a night in jail just to watch this guy, who is making my life hell, spit out half his teeth and a pint of blood.  It wouldn't have been hard to do as my fist was nearly the size of his face lol. At that point i knew it was all over.  After 15 years of dedicated service I too left with nothing, Ernie is right, they are cutting off the higher paid folks to bring in warm bodies. Warm bodies = No vacation, lower pay and less bennies, if any.

Good luck on this Charlie Foxtrot!

BTW didn't you just move to where you are at now for this job?

Yes, I just moved a year ago, but it was for my wife’s new job. I was more disappointed than angry, that an employer I have made hundreds of millions of dollars for, would just get try to get rid of me at the cheapest possible way. I was seriously depressed for a few days.

A year ago, my wife got offered a new job with her company that paid 40% more than i made, so it was a no brainer to take it and move. I thought i would have to quit, but after thinking about it for a while, I pitched a trial work at home arrangement and my employer accepted it, I went through two 90 day trials to prove myself and my productivity, both times I got good reviews and the position was made permanent, or so I thought.

Last month, while I was on my vacation my boss called an left me a message that a deal went through and we would be selling the management contract back to the manufacturer. I knew it was bad news, but figured we had enough work to keep me employed. Just about a week ago, I was told I could only keep my job if I moved back to Dallas. And I had one week to decide. A total crap move by them.

I always worked in the best interest of my company and defended its values and position. I never served in the military, but had an incredible opportunity to work hand in hand with our troops. I was lucky enough to work directly with the US Army and manage a logistics contract and even ran a warehouse for the Army too. I went every three months to AMCOM to givthem status reports the program we built. I proudly served the troops that made the OH-58D the most available air asset in Iraq and Afghanistan. And was honored to get the opportunity to be part of a team that mostly was there to keep ground troops alive. The proudest day of my life was when the 17th Cav presented me with a combat mission flag. Yet, my employer could care less now, because that helicopter was retired and no longer even a memory for more than 2 or 3 people now. But to me I had an incredible opportunity to do something few civilians ever get a chance to. Even though my job was eliminated, I still have the pride of what I did.

The latest development now is that they are tentatively offering me work until the end of August, then I will get 1 week of pay per year of service, so this gives me almost 5 months to find a job. The definitely re-thought the separation and probably realized that I would probably seek a lawyer. I work with contracts for a living and would not take this lying down. After talking with my wife, I say “F**K THEM!” I’m going to take the package and not apply for another position within the company. I am now looking at this as an opportunity for change.

Right now I am waiting for them to send me a “separation package” for me to sign. We will see how that goes...to be continued.

As i mentioned above, this is my most prized possession, besides my family.

To me this is absolutely irreplaceable. This makes me realize that it’s not who we work for that makes a man, but what we do that makes a difference.

There will be another chapter to my career, I don’t know what it is yet, but it will happen...

Very cool Mark! I'd be honored to have received this too. IMO That is the REAL payoff off the job. Your peers and the people you helped obviously appreciated your efforts even though your soon to be ex employer did not, You'll see that you did good in the long run. :notworthy:

AND that is the problem in today's working world, these big companies don't take care of their MOST valuable asset............... the employees, who, ......... with out those fat cat  seven figure salary's would NOT be there................. they just don't get it..... and I agree full on, that the flag will mean more and definitely comes from those who know and their hearts.............that is a VERY cool gift......

Yes, as a matter of fact, I am still losing my job, but we have agreed to a separation package that keeps me working through the end of August and then I have a package that gives me compensation to keep us going through the end of the year, which gives me plenty of time to find other employment. However, my wife and I have agreed to cut spending dramatically until I do find something else.
