Gluing in process and  edge pre painting. Will let it all rest 24 hours before I start the ground work.I glued the mat to a large piece of black styrene, the ground mat  is from a reptile store. It  was a challenge to cut it  straight because of the small rocks, I ended cutting it from the back with a surgical scalpel.

This is what I will try to achieve.

Nice to see where you are going - progress: right on target. When I was a model railroader many decades ago, the supplies available were amazing and now they are even better and more realistic. Woodland Scenic and Scenic Express come to mind.👍

Oh no, I hate back tracking but it's the right way to correct the base. Seems there are builds I feel I spend more time re-doing and back tracking then moving forward.

Update. Remade the base. I am waiting on the grass  stuff to come in. I will need to paint the base which I was not planning on doing, it looks to dark for the dio.

Agreed, the soil and dirt does look too dark, almost heading towards a dark muddy brown. maybe a few days break who give you a chance to think things out before painting the soil.

I ended up making the base again. The larger rocks did not work for me.
I want to add a field generator and a field fuel transfer rig but nothing exists in 1/32 so I am trying to make them.

first coat paint on the base, I am waiting for the various schrubs to show up in the mail to continue painting.

Right with Gus ..  Would love to see your whole build process on how you go about engineering and building some as unique and detailed as the generator.

Thanks. I will also add a field fuel transfer. I may put the generator on wheels.
