  1. Dave, just kind of looking to simulate the discoloration in high traffic areas before the paint starts chipping, you know how flat paint kind of gets lighter in those areas?
  2. Beautiful build, that scheme's definitely an attention getter!
  3. What are you guys doing to simulate scuffed paint?
  4. I'm going to do a summary at the end of all this but if you really a want good Erla G-10 then building the Revell kit OOB is not going to get you one. The Revell kit has a lot of good things going for it but they just really didn't get the shape of the nose right at all. AMUR Reaver does a resin replacement but it runs about $20, almost as much as the kit. I'll probably pick one up though just because I'm stupid that way.
  5. Finally saw it at Yodobashi (who typically have the best prices for plastic) last night, the equivalent of $164 US, I expected it to be a little less than that.
  6. Not at my glacial building pace, Ralph!
  7. Thanks, John! The Revell kit isn't too far behind, it's already primered and I may get the paint on this weekend.
  8. Some progress on "Red 5" (Hasegawa), Mr. Finishing Surfacer 1500 laid down: And paint (Mr. Color) and decals (BarracudaCals) applied:
  9. I'm using the Insta-Cure + which is a little thicker than the normal stuff so it kind of sticks in where you put it which is handy. $5.00 for 2 oz. on Amazon, not bad!
  10. I'm really getting away from fillers whenever possible and sticking with gap filling CA glue. Sands beautifully, crack resistant and tough as nails. If you're not using it for seam filling and other reasonably small gaps I'd highly recommend you check it out.
  11. Scha-wing! We salute you! That is just cool as hell!
  12. I had this issue at work. What I did to paste was turn off the little switch on the left hand of the tool bar (which I believe just enables basic HTML) and it allowed me to after that. Just hit the switch again and you're back to normal mode.
  13. That's a great project, John. It's a nice kit, the only issue I had with mine is the lower wing roots had just a little gap but that could have been my fault.
  14. How about a D-9, Dave? So many interesting schemes and the Hasegawa kit is just really good! Hey whatever happened to the three Revell G-6's you had going for the build off?
  15. Seek and ye shall find! http://modellbau-schatton.privat.t-online.de/html/preisliste.html I followed the link you set which sent me on a roundabout path to the Schatton-Modellbau site and found these. Thanks, Steve!
  16. Anyone have a good line drawing of what these should look like? I've come up with some fuzzy B&W photos but that's about it, not really a good enough reference to try to cobble some together.
  17. Amazing stuff, Jimbo!
  18. Luftwaffe Colours by Classic Publications. Great blend of historical narrative and excellent color profiles make these a staple of my collection, can't recommend these enough! https://www.librarything.com/series/Luftwaffe+Colours
  19. The theme of our initial GB will be "1945". This will give us a great range of aircraft and some really interesting subjects to model. Basically anything that flew (or sat on the ground as was the case with a lot of aircraft) in 1945 will be eligible. Spoke with Jim and we've got an unbelievable grand prize lined up for this one. Stay tuned for details in the near future!
  20. Feel free to post favorites from your own library!
  21. Welcome to the Large Scale Luftwaffe forums at Large Scale Modeller! 1/32 scale (and larger) aircraft have really taken off (no pun intended) the last several years and Luftwaffe fans have been fortunate that many of these kits have been in their area of interest. Of course we have the Bf 109's, Fw 190's and the other staples but also kits like the Ar 196, Ar 234 and the He 219, ten year ago these kits would be considered pipe dreams. So we've decided to create a forum that focuses on this popular area of modeling. In addition to your large scale aircraft we'd also love to see your 1/35 scale and larger airfield support vehicles, ground support equipment and figures. We hope you'll enjoy this expansion of Large Scale Modeller and we hope to see your contributions on a regular basis. With your help we'd like to make this the place for large scale Luftwaffe modeling. Enjoy your stay!
  22. Next up the Hasegawa, resin after-market woes as well, this time more my fault than Master Details wheel bay inserts. I wasn't real thorough with my dry fits so I wound up with some leading edge issues but I managed to tame them. The EagleParts nose required a little work especially around the wing roots but wasn't too bad overall.
