  1. I sold my 1/35 Sherman and Firefly, just have a Tamiya 1/16 version. Easy Eight, though.
  2. Ron, I’ve heard the engine is a real gem in this kit. From what I see on the sprues, I tend to agree. Ive got my Airscale goodies coming, and am going to gram the Master barrels as well. I’m kind of torn on schemes, but FAA probably for me, although I’ve also started looking at racer schemes as well. Just no GSB for me, I’ve got a Panther that’ll be GSB already. You’ll give a clinic on this I expect. I’m looking forward to sitting back and learning. E
  3. Thanks Anthony, it'd definitely a labor of love with this one. Every time I turn around, I find more differences, additions, and deletions from the standard Lanc. And there's no "tweaks list" to go by and I'm no research hero either... but, I expect she'll look nice when finished. Speaking of our research guru......
  4. The C-3 was based on the Si-204? It is pretty cool...
  5. Yeah, that’s sort of how it worked, eh? Just like the Americans decision to take the turbo out of the P-39 that was designed as a high altitude interceptor, the Brits decision to take the dive brakes off a dive bomber bordered on silliness.
  6. Here’s the crew you need
  7. I just like the oddball stuff. I think it’s cool in a odd way, but I’ve always loved the Hurri, so any aircraft based on the Hurri is cool by me.
  8. Now that I got my target tug book.... Yeah, it’s got some serious family resemblance, doesn’t it?
  9. I finally found it! I’ve been looking this for awhile. Let’s face it, I have an appreciation for the odd and the obscure, so target tugs fascinate me.
  10. I’m hoping so, but I haven’t heard a thing, either.
  11. Now this one for GOLD! Brilliant pic, Sluggo!
  12. Totally convincing crash scene, Sir!
  13. The one I started using 2 years ago is Model Master clear lacquers. Not Testors main brand, bu MM in the glass jars, thin them slightly with levelling Thinner and airbrush on your model. It is almost impossible to apply too much, and unlike other dullcoats, if you do happen to apply too much it never, ever has left white spots. I used Alclad dullcoats for years, and although they look great, I had a problem with them never really completely drying. They always stayed a bit tacky, enough that you could almost leave fingerprints in the clear. The MM lacquer dries hard as a rock in a few minutes. I can't take credit for this, the one who clued me in is Brian Outagtcha on the other site.
  14. Jeez! Gazz the machine! You’re putting these out faster than the German factories did. And who took the hacksaw to the barrel? How rude!
  15. Tony, this is one build I’m very much looking forward to in person. So much so that I may need to slide on by and see it in person. And maybe accidentally drink all your whiskey too!
  16. This looks like GREAT news in the pipeline, and I’m excited to see what comes down the line. I AM a little surprised at the slow nature of AM popping up for this kit, especially since it seemed that B-17 was here almost overnight. The one thing I’m watching closest is Iain Ogilvie’s wing fix. That will fix what to me is the one thing I can’t unsee. As a big B-24 fan, I’ll probably snap up every piece of quality AM there is for my builds. A “D” and a “J” both. Superchargers, engines, brass gear, turrets, etc. And that Martin turret... hmmm, might that also fit a Mk.X Lanc???
  17. THANKS! I have a different view on reviews; I like to give some Sprue shots and my first impressions of a kit. Y’all then provide, through conversation, the details. Not a lot of trash talk happens here, which is good. IMHO, y’all know much more than I do, especially as a group of modelers. The kit itself provides three options: 1. In Flight, wheels up. 2. On Ground, unfolded, flaps extended. 3. On Ground, all folded up. The engine cowl panels, canopy, and gun service panels can be modeled open or closed. My PERSONAL preference is for closed panels and ready for flight, so we’ll soon see if the panels fit closed. I’m extremely drawn to the FAA version even though the Corsair and Martlet are what I see when I think round engine FAA wartime birds. I’m really not a fan of all GSB. So look for some Royal Navy camo on the horizon here. If Airfix gives us a -3, then it’ll be tri color US Navy.
  18. It seems dry now, but I’ll give it an extra day.
  19. I think it’s gloss. Canadian Voodoo Grey, whatever that is.
  20. I use it on oils, Carl. Never tried on enamel, but I will next time. Yup, I sure did, Bill. Up till I tried MMP, I used it on everything. The last MM enamel I sprayed was way back when Moby Dick was a minnow, and it finally dried last month.
  21. Put on some Voodoo grey last night. MM enamel takes forever to dry, so we’ll give it a few days. Then, a white top, blue-Black anti glare panel, then paint the orange and blue bands. In the meantime and in between time, I’ll whip up the tailgeathers and get some paint on them. This is THE kit for cool postwar versions
