  1. Totally convincing crash scene, Sir!
  2. The one I started using 2 years ago is Model Master clear lacquers. Not Testors main brand, bu MM in the glass jars, thin them slightly with levelling Thinner and airbrush on your model. It is almost impossible to apply too much, and unlike other dullcoats, if you do happen to apply too much it never, ever has left white spots. I used Alclad dullcoats for years, and although they look great, I had a problem with them never really completely drying. They always stayed a bit tacky, enough that you could almost leave fingerprints in the clear. The MM lacquer dries hard as a rock in a few minutes. I can't take credit for this, the one who clued me in is Brian Outagtcha on the other site.
  3. Jeez! Gazz the machine! You’re putting these out faster than the German factories did. And who took the hacksaw to the barrel? How rude!
  4. Tony, this is one build I’m very much looking forward to in person. So much so that I may need to slide on by and see it in person. And maybe accidentally drink all your whiskey too!
  5. This looks like GREAT news in the pipeline, and I’m excited to see what comes down the line. I AM a little surprised at the slow nature of AM popping up for this kit, especially since it seemed that B-17 was here almost overnight. The one thing I’m watching closest is Iain Ogilvie’s wing fix. That will fix what to me is the one thing I can’t unsee. As a big B-24 fan, I’ll probably snap up every piece of quality AM there is for my builds. A “D” and a “J” both. Superchargers, engines, brass gear, turrets, etc. And that Martin turret... hmmm, might that also fit a Mk.X Lanc???
  6. THANKS! I have a different view on reviews; I like to give some Sprue shots and my first impressions of a kit. Y’all then provide, through conversation, the details. Not a lot of trash talk happens here, which is good. IMHO, y’all know much more than I do, especially as a group of modelers. The kit itself provides three options: 1. In Flight, wheels up. 2. On Ground, unfolded, flaps extended. 3. On Ground, all folded up. The engine cowl panels, canopy, and gun service panels can be modeled open or closed. My PERSONAL preference is for closed panels and ready for flight, so we’ll soon see if the panels fit closed. I’m extremely drawn to the FAA version even though the Corsair and Martlet are what I see when I think round engine FAA wartime birds. I’m really not a fan of all GSB. So look for some Royal Navy camo on the horizon here. If Airfix gives us a -3, then it’ll be tri color US Navy.
  7. I use it on oils, Carl. Never tried on enamel, but I will next time. Yup, I sure did, Bill. Up till I tried MMP, I used it on everything. The last MM enamel I sprayed was way back when Moby Dick was a minnow, and it finally dried last month.
  8. Put on some Voodoo grey last night. MM enamel takes forever to dry, so we’ll give it a few days. Then, a white top, blue-Black anti glare panel, then paint the orange and blue bands. In the meantime and in between time, I’ll whip up the tailgeathers and get some paint on them. This is THE kit for cool postwar versions
  9. Mike, I’m super excited about the future here, my friend! Some really cool things in the works, and I really look forward to see what comes of it all.
  10. I’ve never used it either, Ryan. Decided to try it for a change. I used the stuff in the dark color container because it better matched my chosen grey. After several days, it’s as soft as it was when I put it on! Maybe I’ll have better luck with the other container they give, the white one, I dunno. I’ll try the other container, the white one next. Maybe I missed something? I’m getting old, you know. And being in Texas an’all, sun baked bald head, wind whipped face, probably sustained damage over the years....
  11. I worked far under that building back in the early 80s. We were warned about possible unexploded aerial bombs in the hills behind us. The Kaserne was obviously military, but the town was amazing. Gasthaus crawling till 0200. Adler to Adler. The town pic i apparently recent, signs are different, but the buildings are all the same.
  12. I can see it now..... if I did one it's be leaning like a drunken sailor fresh out of the bar after 6 months at sea.
  13. Thanks Phil, and it's so good y'all are here. Y'all came on your own, and it's been a blessing for everyone involved. I'm looking forward to meeting y'all in the future sometime, Telford, Moson, and the big show Down Under are on several of our bucket lists.
  14. I'll certainly look on this one, but initial inspection found nothing of concern. I check Nige's stuff often, but haven't checked this one yet.
  15. maybe so. but I have very interesting plans for my floaty Gotha.
  16. Pretty quick all we’ll have are the old glass bottles.
  17. OK, a slight minor two minute last ditch modification. (Translation into LSMish: a Contributor noticed something I missed.) The thingamadorfer on the portside bomb bay doubler had to go. FM104 didn’t have it, so, out with the magic #11, trim trim trim, and stuff the hole full of Apoxie. Total collateral damage is a couple chips on the aluminum overspray that’ll be covered in Voodoo grey in a couple days. Has anyone else had any issues with Apoxie Sculpt? It doesn’t seem to want to harden at all, even after a month. I mean, good grief, I’ve already used almost all of it and it’s still soft. Maybe I’ll have better luck with the second container of the stuff they give. I dunno, but it’s maddening.
  18. So don’t touch redline, stay with orange lacquers. Ok, good to know. Thanks!
