  1. It’s an old joke between Martin and I that just grew from there. Started as a typo and kinda took on a life of it’s own. Just remember, we’re all still children at heart. You forget that, and you quickly grow old.
  2. Well, I’m going to play with it and see. We may need to just live with it. I love the aircraft enough to live with it.
  3. And Peter, don’t ever start a build that your heart’s just not in. I almost gave up building over that Hun. It gave me that much grief.
  4. Dennis.E’s comments were some of the most thoughtful and thought out comments I’ve seen on any forum in a long, long time. I suspect we all can take note in the fact we often come off as complainers, even if it’s not our intention. We all are guilty of that, I’m sure. He points out on fact: the HobbyBoss B-24 is a whole lot better than the one we had last year, and is miles ahead of Tamiya and Wingnut Wings offerings. Yeah there’s issues. All kits have issues. Glass will be available in the AM, and as for the distinctive Davis wing, it offers a scratch building, vac, or kitbashing opportunity.
  5. I’m not sure it’ll really NEED all that much... a bit in the pit perhaps, but not much more
  6. They were popular, but rusted on the showroom floor. They even made a rampside pickup. Goofiness abounded.
  7. You never know what memorials to wasted time you might find. For example, this long stalled F-100D. There’s probably 200 hrs invested in this thing with loads of AM, and it ain’t even close yet... I’m not even a real fan of the Hun, why on earth do we start stuff we don’t really like?
  8. After melting my F-5, I find this too late. Positively brilliant!
  9. Yeah, a GAU-8. That’ll fix his wagon. I like how you think.
  10. Just tighten up that left hand a bit... ok, tighten it a lot.
  11. No clue what to do with the Davis wing issue. The distinctive “pinch” at the 2/3 spot back from the leading edge is completely missing. Maybe some plastic down the length at that spot and glue/clamp the skins in to mimic the look? Dang they really missed the mark there.
  12. Big Ed set, brass gear, probably vac turrets, wheels, new Browning M2 guns all around, engines, and..... oh boy did they blow it huge on that Davis wing. It isn’t even close to correct. That wing foot is the only glaring fubar I see. And it’s pretty much unfixable. Oh well, build on.
  13. Ooh, that ain’t good. I’m still going to give mine a go, though, as soon as it gets here. I just love the old bird too much. I expect some vac or resin options will be available soon enough. And I expect that much like the P-61, you’lll be able to throw 500 bucks of AM at it and not blink an eye.
  14. ain’t that the truth. At least for stuff that flies straight. MG food is available, but wasting that in a Barrett is silly.
  15. What works better on Cats? 1. P-08 2. P-38 3. Browning Hi Power 4. M1911 5. CZ.75 6. FN FAL 7. HK G3 8. M16A1 9. C.96 10. Barrett M107 50 BMG
  16. Me too. I've read accounts of bomber crews for 50 years now, and I'd love to be able to tell you phrase, verse, and chapter, but I'm going to need to find and review every single first person account of Canadian bomber ops I've ever read. I'll start this weekend.
  17. Well, that’s a big enough coincidence that I’d assume with more yes than no that the image WAS there. I’d find one and apply it.
  18. Any idea how the 2A6 stacks up against the T-90? Hopefully the T-90’s a better tank than the Zippo T-55.
  19. I’ve talked to more than a few Marines here who sang the highest praises for the Canadian Army’s 2A5s and 2A6s in Asscrackistan. Apparently one of their permanent responsibilities was providing fire support to the Marines operating in the valleys. They’d find high ground and use their main guns for artillery purposes. With A-10s above, Leo’s in the hills, and mobile Marines on the valley floor, there was no stopping them.
  20. OK, an update. after looking it all over tonight, the rear fuselage stripped down nicely with Mr Levelling Thinner and revealed no huge areas of plastic damage. The glue ran over the tailpipe areas, which had the stainless areas masked for painting the camo. The glue didn’t go under the tape except around the side fairings as seen in my pc. It sanded well, and there doesn’t seem to be any melting. Some rescribing and reriveting will need to be done. The fin is T-Totally Trashed. Melted, warped, and bent. I have a spare kit, so I’ll rob that one until I can beg another Sprue from Kitty Hawk. A rescribe, repaint, and new fin gets this one back in the game.
  21. Along with the Yuk-9s, came this sweet little Italian job. I’m a true sucker for 30s and 40s Italian aircraft. It looks like the designers visited Seversky or Republic.... Engine turns backwards too... how odd.
  22. I’ll give my .02 on turnbuckles as well. I love Bob’s Buckles. And I love Gaspatch, and RB turnbuckles. But with the possible exception of the RB product, they’re all way over scale. On a WW1 aircraft being viewed from 30 ft away, turnbuckles are all but invisible, and I’m into realism, so after tryingBob’s and Gaspatch, I settled on this: Single engine aircraft I use 1/48 scale Gaspatch turnbuckles. They look about right. And, I also use Bob’s Buckles eyelets only and after attaching the line, use thick CA to build up the line end a bit, then paint the built up area to represent a turnbuckle. Bombers such as the Felixstowe I use 1/32 Scale Gaspatch. They fit the size well enough. But no matter what you do, in my mind, NOTHING ruins the look of a beautiful model more than out of line or bent turnbuckles. If you use Gaspatch, be extremely careful to drill the holes in the wings perfectly lined up with the angle of the line that’ll be attached. If they’re out of line or obviously bent into line, it is incredibly distracting. To me, like a big blob of glue on a wing.
  23. Yeah, it was sitting on the cabinet beside me, all kinds of calm, then the compressor started...
