I just saw this as well. A truly stunning build. I’m usually not one for the “Level 1 inspection” look, but this really looks the part, and much like the AT-6/Harvard, the construction methods of the wartime Hawkers certainly lends itself to a most impressive look with the skin and fairings removed.

I had Sluggo make me masks a few times in the last. He does great work but has dropped off the face of the earth. I think I’ll ask Maketar this time, but the Red Ensign, well, that’ll need to be sourced or commissioned.

Tamiya rattle can and Mr. Surfacer, depending on the amount of imperfections in the surface. As in, Trumpeter kits always get a very thick coat of Mr. Surfacer 500.

I’ll add one thing to the discussion here. I’ve noticed that for me at least, I’ve become progressively crappier at brush painting. I’m not sure, but I think it might actually be the paint formulation. It seems to need much more reducers just to make it flow.

It took me years to become proficient with a double action airbrush and I’ll be darned if I’m going to put it down now! So I try to airbrush everything. But.... except for exhaust streaking, I usually weather with a brush. Rain streaks, etc, pinwashes, and dot filters, always and only with a brush. And obviously, you can’t do fine details such as cockpit tiny detailing with an airbrush....

While driving on the401 in 03-04, I saw the coming and going out of Trenton very regularly. Think about it. There’s no other civilian aircraft anywhere in the world that can do what the 124 and 225 can do. But if they don’t find a solution quickly, they might end up being all grounded. They actually need to start building more. There’s a huge worldwide market for them

This is such a cool aircraft. Not ugly per se, but goofy and complicated in a way a you’d expect from Rube Goldberg, yet it worked incredibly well. A modelers dream. A super tough design, used from the very first right to the very last day of the war, and all but forgotten today.

I asked at one time, and as far as I know it’s some aircraft stuff and rocket parts. I see them over my shop, but have yet to catch one on the ground yet. Hopefully soon. An-124 is easily the most common Russian/Ukrainian type I’ve seen in this Country. I’ve personally seen them in Rockford, Il, Winston-Salem, NC, Atlanta, Ga, Tampa, Fl, Houston, Tx, DFW, plus the one military base I saw them at was CFB Trenton. That was in the early mid 2000s and I assumed they were moving the Army over to the sandbox to play.

No argument from me, John. The Vector cockpit is a real gem and worth every cent. The kit is a real sweetheart as well. I’m sure glad I bough several for cheap when they were getting no love whatsoever from the modeling community.

This will make the 1/32 Lanc look tiny. We get An-124s in and out of DFW on a regular basis, and the 225 makes the 124 look small.

Apparently they’ve been sipping the Stolichnaya again, because it seems that they're bringing us a 1/72 scale An-225 Mirya sometime in 2019. This thing is gonna be huuuuuuuuge! Of course, many here know of my love affair with large Russian airlifters, so this will definitely join the collection.

There’s plenty of pics of RAF and AAF A’s on the flight line so beat up they look like parts should be falling off them. I know there was more than a few of them that just crapped out and fell apart.
